Blown engine E9* M3 coupe
Discussion
This warranty period on replacement parts is the same with Audi as well. I had a part fail a couple of months before warranty was up then around 6 months later the part failed again.... No sir not covered (not even sure sir was used!!).
I should imagine the majority of automotive warranties are the same..... In fairness I can see the logic, they have signed up for a certain coverage period and rectify issues within it f.o.c.

Never heard of a blown engine too especially on such a new/low mileage car. My car is around the same year and miles so far only the right bank throttle actuator failed and got replaced under warranty.
Bright side of things though will be the new engine! After the running in it'll be almost like a brand new car.

Well that's a joke. Maybe I was expecting too much. Since getting the new engine I have had electrical gremlins galore.
Constantly getting the "Increased Battery Discharge" warning. Solutions so far have been a full recharge, new battery, new tracker all to no avail. All of this means that, since my engine blew in early July, the car has spent more time in the dealers than it has in my hands.
Pissed off doesn't begin to describe it. Today is the final straw and if not fixed when I get it back then I proceed with the legal route that's already been set up.
BMW Cust Services are a joke of a dept with little grasp of the impact this is having. I've told the dealer that I intend to pursue it legally unless they buy the car off me for retail price.
Oh and the original engine "had swarf in it" which I presume is bits of the engine grinding off.

when a part is replaced under warranty, a parts warranty is not provided
This is quite normal. The warranty on parts replaced under warranty expires when it would have done on the original part. Otherwise you'd be getting extra warranty for free and you can't have that! For a one off failure, to be honest, it's not a problem. The problem comes when you get a repeating failure. I've had an instance where the same part was replaced multiple times under warranty, then failed again shortly after the warranty expired. There must have been some design fault for the part to keep failing, but the manufacturer refused to replace the part again. I replaced it with a third party replacement which did not fail again.
An update. The car has been fine, since they realised, as was correctly posted in here, that the battery wasn't discharging and it was a faulty sensor that needed replacing / resetting. That was until this week, when I noticed the car was a bit noisier than usual, so was going to book it in for a quick once over, but was beaten to it by a lovely engine fault warning. I'm either a car engine destroyer, which would amaze me using one of these on UK roads, or there's a more significant fault hidden somewhere within this car.
fked off with this whole piece is an understatement.
Note the restricted rev range and the warning about driving style.

What a sodding nightmare, I think you should be able to name and shame on here it might wake some of them up a bit, mine were shocking when it had its Insp 1 service in November, they had it for a week ffs! (btw I live in Dorset, not far from a beach with a pier)
On a separate note (see earlier post) I am going to look at (not ride too bloody cold) the new S1000RR tomorrow! I've sat on a ZZR1400 and crikey its huge, and I 6' 2" so that's put me off a bit
