I am ready to buy one and have the cash good to go.
Would prefer it if it came from an enthusiast.
3.0 would be preferable to the 3.2.

Must stress, not a convertible.

I had a chap offering me a 3.0 as a part-ex against my M5. It had just had a bare metal respect and general suspension refresh. I was going to take it, but my wife wants a reduction in cars. I could put you in touch if you'd like, just send me a PM.

I've been offered first refusal on a 3.2 Evo with just 83k miles on it and absolutely no rust, or past repairs. It has had a full stainless system and mapped to suit (some time ago) and runs without fault. It's blue with leather and manual. Lovely. £6.5k

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately that is 1.5k over budget.
Does sound nice though.

Thanks again.

Sorry to piggyback, are the cabs generally more expensive (as I guess they were originally) or cheaper (less focussed) then their tintop counterparts?

About the same I think buddy.
Prices vary wildly depending on condition and mileage and service history.

Quite the opposite I think, coupes are generally more expensive due to lack of supply - many of them have been modded for track use.

Definitely the right time to buy as a long term thing. Good ones are harder to find now.

Personally, I've never quite got the convertible M3. Even e30 M3 cabs seem a bit daft and more show than go.

Like the wind in the hair but need 4 seats and a bit of poke. E36 m3, e46 m3 and early 6 series cab seem like good options.

It's for the 2 weeks of the year that you can have the roof down, enjoy the sun and hear the noise from your car!

It's the whole ''lets take a performance saloon and chop the roof off for sunny day cruises'' thing. It compromises what is an excellent vehicle in my book. If honest I'm not even entirely sure why but it makes it neither one or the other I guess? (performance or cabriolet) I know the e46 cab was designed as such, but still....

It did not come home with me.
Getting sick of going to look at supposed mint, immaculate, the best you will see cars that just aren't.

The search continues.

Spent ages looking at crap before i found mine. It is worth it tho and if you want one for reasonable money i reckon youve only got two years left, tops before they stop being cheap speed.

Coupes seem more desirable than convertibles, i got lucky and got a manual with no sunroof. Nearly sold it recently but booked in for full respray instead. Glad i did now. It looks pretty special and seems to get noticed more each year.

To be honest. Your not going to get mint for your budget. Your going to get a car with around 100k. Any car with them kind of miles unless been spoilt rotten ie new paint and refurb everything, your not going to find mint etc.

I would up your budget for a mint example or settle on a car which will need some worj to be "mint"

This is accurate. I bought mine four years ago after bidding brutally at 3.5. I,ve since spent another 2-2500 on it and if i'm being picky there's still loads i'd want to do to call it mint.

Funny, all of a sudden theyre worth something.
