As per the title, the E92's seem to have held up well looking through old posts and I recon many of the ones up for 35k at 3yrs old now..... were probably bought for 45k originally, so depreciation hasn't been that bad if you picked them up at the end of their life cycle.

I'm still debating between an E92 or F80, would be a saloon in either case, essentially wondering whether it'd be better to wait it out till Christmas when there may be deals on the new one, the old one may have gone down a bit, or just put a bid in on one now and assume that the 2011 models have already lost something and so you *may* not lose toooooo much going forward.

Is now a bad time to go for an E92 because all the 2012 lease models will be dumped on the market soon, or is now a good time to go for one because owners are trading into the new F80?

I would say it'll be when there starts being significant numbers of second hand F80 M3s on the market that the price of e90/e92 will drop. I'm thinking next summer may be a good time to get an e92.

You'll be looking at an E90 if it's a saloon your after, the 92 is the coupe

They were last produced in 2011, with a few cars registered on 61 plates, so the latest cars are now about to approach 3 years old.

AFAIK they were never offered with the 0% finance deals that the last of the E92s were, so I wouldn't expect there to be a flood of them coming into the used market as the 3 year contracts come to an end, they are quite a rare beast in their own.

Looking at prices, I paid £37k for my 2011 saloon in April last year, sold it for £33k in November as I was afraid the prices would take a hammering as the new car had been unveiled but not yet released, I was erring on the side of caution, but looking at the prices I should have kept the car as I wouldn't have lost much more over the coming months. Hindsight is wonderful.

No matter what car it is there is doom mongers. The c63 with the old style dash was going to dive when the new new dash came out, 3 years later no sign of that. Good e46 m3's are actually going up in price again. e92's were going to nose dive this summer due to the new car. Again no sign of that, in fact a good car is not that easy to find.

If you can find a good one buy it with the knowledge it will go down in value (if I was forced to predict I'd say around £300 per month) but is unlikely to plummet.

Prices of the E90/92 are holding quite well due to the E46 prices proping them up with them increasing in value. Remember the new M4/3 are in different markets, near double the value of a second hand E90/92.
