Hi,

If your plan is as you say to run for a relatively short period of time and with a lower mileage that you'll 'add to/rack up' then you'll be closer to needing to be changing/replacing items which can cost considerable amounts in order to keep a good level of preventative maintenence on the car - and thus easier to sell on when you want the change. If you are thinking of trying to sneak out of those items as the mleage creeps up, then you'll most likely find the car significantly harder to sell on. That is probably a blessing in disguise, as you'll 'most likely' love the car so much you'll want to keep it, spend the money on it and enjoy it even more longer term!

DSP fell out of fashion a few years after it became popular in the mid 90's. Church and stadium effects aren't anything worth having since perhaps the late 90's. Don't get hung up on what audio setup the car has - although everyone 'wants' the widescreen GPS type setup, it's quite poor in audio performance and functionality nowadays (in 1999 when it was designed, it was way ahead of its time!) and to 'add to it' can cost substantial amounts of cash - fine if you *must* go that route, but 'value for money' is relatively poor. The Heritage leather option was expensive when new, lots of people do like it, however it's again, not a feature that warrants you walking away from an excellent or well kept example that doesn't have this or other 'toys' - these can be retrofitted later along with plenty of other bits if you *must* have them.

Away from the forums, some friends and contacts of mine have recently picked up E39 M5's for 'excellent' prices, I saw one having some service aspects being done and apart from needing a really good clean and detail, was an astounding purchase ! - go to see cars, even ones you 'think' might be rough or not so well kept, you might find good ones that 98% of all other's instantly 'dismiss' !

Cheers, Dennis!

Thanks for all the replies I have contacted GMS to tell them what I am after. I have also taken into consideration what you have all said about millage spec etc and will be looking for condition and history over spec.

Thanks again and I will let you know how I get on!
