Craig, i like your style and think you've definitely picked a good portfolio. M coupe is a definite winner. I think the 8 series is a good bet, and see the 850csi's are already fetching >£15k, double that for really decent ones.
My stock portfolio is currently 87 E30 M3 (heavy track prepped), 02 E39 M5 (standard), 97 E36 M3 EVO (standard), all in black
So far so good, I've had the E30 8 yrs, E39 4 yrs and E36 a few months. I reckon I'm 50% up so far in terms of value but of course, when driving any of them, which is the most important part of owning M cars, i'm giggling all the time ;o)
We'll see on the E36 M3s. I think the racing green and the imola individual special editions will do well due to rarity, and especially the 'proper' GT's from germany (LHD only). Like many on here say, if you try and find a decent E36 m3, that's when you realise you have to pay a lot to find one unmodified, and these cars get rarer and rarer hence price is driven up.
Having both E30 and E36 EVO i can honestly say that the E36 is not as bad as they say vs the E30. Yes it doesn't have the steering engagement of the E30, but the 'chuckability', noise and compliant suspension not to mention the screaming 6 pot make the E36 a huge laugh and probably not far off the modern equivalents in terms of pace on a country road where the solid almost track setups most modern cars seem to have these days actually make them slower and harder to drive fast on english potholed roads.

but that does look nice with low miles,My Cab's a 99 done 60k FSH with one retired owner who bought it new for his 60th birthday,It has EVERY invoice and MOT from new and totally original spec so one worth keeping and it does go well with the other two "Dakar's".....

I agree on e36 m3s, they are much quicker than e30s, similar to an e46 but old enough to be a drivers car. The cheapest imola individual e36 is £14250 and the dearest has sold at £23k. Specialist cars of malton have a 21k mile coupe for £20k and kolben have a 33k mile dakar coupe for £14950.

I suppose the spoiler is a personal thing... And wasn't standard on early cars in fact I can't remember when it became standard.? My car Probebly is worth north of 8K but I'm not selling,it's here for keeps but I know one owner low mile original cars are certainly getting hard to find and Dakar is my first choice colour so this one took some finding..!Whats that yellow can worth then Craig? £6-8k? A dakar coupe with black vader seats, rear spoiler would be my choice!
