To me that's too much. It's like someone commissioned a wedding cake designer to do a spoiler. the standard 'M rear wing' is just right - not too much, not too little.

For a daily driver I agree with you. However, these cars are now weekend cars so need to look and feel special in my opinion.

Hence people liking gt3, cosworth, integrale evo and all the more 'lairy' versions. They have to look and feel special and the Gt2 m3 kind of does this.

I just wish it was a stripped out racer in a similar way to the e46 csl.

I paid 5.5k for my evo convertible around 3 years ago. It came with a matching hard top, full history and 83k on the clock. I like to think it's still worth at least what I gave for it?

But to me the multi-layered spoiler doesn't look special, it looks like it was designed by a teenager who didn't know when to give up. This is a BMW, not a Subaru.

I suspect it's worth quite a bit more than that now, as long as there's no rust and you haven't put massive miles on it since you bought it. The 'individual' champagne leather is a particularly strong point.

I agree with you about the spoiler when it has the riser blocks in. But as it sits there, it looks loads better than the standard item (imo)

Disagree,it looks great and actually works! producing downforce at the rear.Ac Schnitzer who ran the E36 BTCC cars in 1994 ran with this same spoiler on Jochim Winkelhocks car and it proved a much more stable car in high speed corners around Silverstone.

I'm thinking of removing the spoiler off mine (normal m3 evo spoiler). I was thinking of either putting the 328 sport version on or nothing at all.

For me the GT2 spoiler is too much it doesn't integrate well with the rest of the car and looks a bit OTT.

The ACS spoiler there is a good size but I don't like the way it comes down the side of the car.

Id keep it with what was originally intended, ie normal m3 spoiler. I wouldn't change for 328 spoiler as non standard and people will ask why.

I wouldn't fit a gt2 spoiler either - bit like fitting a cosworth whale tail on a non cosworth.

That looks lovely. Yeah there are similar mileage Estoril and lower mileage boston green ones for about £6250'so with negotiating prob £5500. Yours is arguably rarer/nicer.

I think next year these will start to rise a lot - have you seen the shift in e30s, cosworths, porsche, ferrari and all other older sought after 80s and 90s cars recently. Theyve gone bonkers!

Sit back owners and watch the prices rise
Amazing the GT2 commands so much money seeing it's a essentially a standard M3 with a bolt on spoiler and lurid interior.

Perhaps people are right when they say the CS will be the E46 to own in a few years time.

Looks like mine is going back in the garage for winter then wink
The Cs will do well as its manual.
This is why I chose E46 M3 CS (BMW Manual Gearbox). 2 Owners from New (excluding me). 35900 mileage. Apparently the last E46 M3 CS registered (not manufactured) for the UK :-)

Looks good with very low miles, shame it's not a six speed manual otherwise they'd shift it pretty quickly at that price...

An M3 is one of those cars 'on my list' and having read all through this thread I'm quite encouraged!
Never owned a BM though and although I am pretty knowledgeable on cars in general I don't know too much in great detail about them.
This is for sale near me:

Anyone any thoughts please? It seems worth a look certainly.

Indeed, & probably more saleable on the proper 17" alloys, rather than the 16's in the write up... rolleyes

Worth a look I'd say,try and take someone with you who's knowledgeable about these cars as they'll be a big difference between a car thats just had a cosmetic makeover and one that's had a proper chassis refresh ie,dampers, springs, swivel joints, control arms etc,at that mileage it will be tired if it's still on the original stuff.Drive a nice tight sorted E36 M3 with some Eibach adjustable anti-roll bars etc and you'll be smitten, they really are very underated cars and personally I prefer them to the later heavier M3's.

That Velvet Blue is a stunning colour in the flesh, i have never seen a photo that has done it justice. I tried to buy a '98 convertable E36 Evo in this colour a couple of years ago, i nearly bought it on the colour alone but the rest of the car was a dog and i was sense.
£6.5k for a rare colour evo with a good history and well maintained is a good investment in my eyes, prices have been very slowly creeping up for the last year or 2 as good ones become more scarce.
I've had 3 X E36 M3's and they were all a great laugh, a comparativley raw driving experience compared to modern standards, it can hand you big bills occasionally and they are getting on a bit so need some TLC, but good fun.
