Hi,

I've just been driving on a European motorway and my bog standard M5 reached 170mph without hitting a limiter. I know it's supposed to be restricted to 155mph but obviously it's not. Anyone else gone way over 155mph without hitting the limiter? Or anyone else hit the limiter at 155mph or any other speed?

Oh, and there was a lot of shove still remaining at 170mph. It just didn't stop pulling hard until I ran out of appropriate road and slowed down but it felt like there was a fair bit more there.

My E46 M3 hits the limiter at an indicated 169 mph, which is a genuine 162 mph.

Had a GPS at 260kph - 162mph in my E39 M5.
That's what I thought M cars were set at, so register on the speedo about 170 ish.
Felt like it could have sat there all night.

My first one was about the same. Didn't drive the other two in Germany. Not sure the E46 M3 would do more than 175 at best in any case.

E60 M5: 169mph/270kph indicated, it hit the limiter and cut the throttle. My understanding is that it will go above 155mph/250kph for a short period of time but settle back to 155mph.

M11 between Stansted and London, there's some nice straight stretches, no speed cameras and light traffic in the early hours since there's no night flights at Stansted. Not that I've ever gone above 70mph there myself wink

I've heard about this too.....they call it the runway where I come from!

Perhaps not flat enough or smooth enough for serious speed though.

M6 Cumbria would be a good shout too.

Does the F10 emit any noise at 160+ ?

One came down my street the other day and I reg checked it because I thought it was a replica!
