After having ours without full leather, I would 100% order the full leather option if I had an M3/4 again. The standard plastic on the dash is almost identical to the M135i we had before which, whilst it's OK, it's not really a £60k+ ambiance. Full leather would transform it.

I thought extended leather was the standard and full was the all covered version?
I went with full and it's all covered, doors, dash and glovebox, confusing having extended in there for the lesser leathered version.
Maybe she ordered Full Leather then...as you can see...all dash doors etc. Quite a few quids

The top-tier “Full Merino Leather” – vs. “Extended Merino Leather (premium pkg.)” adds the following:
- Upper door panels in Walknappa Leather (Black).
- Instrument panel/dashboard in Walknappa Leather (Black).
- Lower dashboard in Merino and Walknappa Leather (Upholstery colour/Black).
- Sun visors textured/anthracite.
- Rear parcel shelf in anthracite.
Just like with Porsches the full leather option is a must have on these cars, soft touch plastic right next to deviated stitching looks out of place.

Saw one roll by the other day and honestly, it sounded ste.

Did look surprisingly great in black though.

That interior /\ is absolutely stunning. I can't help thinking the head unit bit looks rather ugly though.

Despite the incredible performance on offer this generation of turbo charged M3 has certainly made the E46/E92 cars more desireable in my opinion. Yes it will be easier to increase power for sensible money but again that's not what the M3 is about to me. Any 'chipped turbocharged E92 variants I have experienced, diesel and petrol have just been spoilt with the extra power. Great for tail out fun but hopeless at getting power down and making progress

Brief review on the M3

Excellent ride

Mega power, and torque

Excellent grip and handling

Put Cups on and chip the car, and you can go 991 GT3 hunting at half the cost – twice the practicality

Technology to satisfy most geeks, head up display is so welcome

Very good brakes

Looks really fresh

Very nice seats

Great value for money

A well rounded car. Probably the best M3 ever (and they have all punched above their weight), all things considered - perhaps not as emotive but efficient & does not short change aficionados.

All IMHO smile

That about sums it up for me too. Engine sounds a bit of a let down (But I did arrive at the test drive in the CSL) but power and torque more than made up for it.

Great daily imo.

Which is exactly what I want one for. I know I'd get fed up of filling up an E90 twice a week too.

Anyone got any realworld range figures for these yet?

Sometime next year I'm going to need a daily, don't have room for another car so I'm thinking of selling CSL keep the GT3 for special and have a new M3 as a good all rounder.

I want to wait to see what deals might be available into next year though once the hype has died off a bit.

Think I prefer the un-extended one given the price of upgrading to Extended leather. All that money just to have the glovebox door and a few other bits covered in leather seems a bit much.
Ofcourse, but then buy a 316i because all that money just to have a bit of extra power seems a bit much...:-)

The plastics in the standard 3 series (1, X1 and X3 series included) are probably just about fine in a 316i/320i/318d etc. but don't match the premiumness you expect from an M3, given the price.

What kind of an engineer would say that? If you want a "proper" sports car, you don't build it from a saloon to begin with. The reason M cars are desirable to the public is that they are a) expensive b) offer decent but compromised performance and comfort in once package. I can't think of one that isn't built around this ethos.
There's compromise and there's compromise though. Surely you can read between the lines and see what the engineer means?
I don't think our best friend is that bright, at least based on his classic postings, like this recent gem :

I got 28 MPG after about 50 miles driving one, not thrashing it all the time, so I think that would be a good average figure IMO.

One more pic.... BMW have finally woken up to providing better brakes. Ceramics is an option.

Are the optional black wheels all totally black or do they have a diamond cut on them? All the brochure pics make it look like they are 2-tone.

I saw two cars today on the road....both in Yas Marina Blue. I know I am in the minority but didn't really like the colour.....

Wife saw an M4 in grey yesterday - said it looked good from the back.

(She's having a YMB M3 though)

I think the colours are a bit poor to be honest, but on the 3 the YMB is the best of a bad bunch.

my dilemma is whether the new M4 is £50K better than my current E92 M3?

That is roughly what it will cost me to upgrade.

Going to have a drive of the new one this week or next - and on roads I know well.

Part of me hopes it is so much better but the sensible part of me suggests not.

And I'm with the not likes of the blue but each to their own smile

Was wondering that.

Can't be many £10k E92's around.
