No, not really. Though perhaps there is some hidden meaning in those italics. hehe
Just because a performance car is based on a saloon / estate / whatever the trendy name for a hatchback is these days doesn't mean that it has to be the polar opposite from a lightweight sports car. The engineer probably meant that he'd rather build something with just enough practicality and "compromise" to be useful as a daily driver yet focussed enough to entertain.

Or you could just give up and throw more power at a Golf. rolleyes
Exactly, a point all too easily forgotten here on PH it seems

I like estates, and saloons, and coupes, and whilst I don't expect them to handle like a Caterham, I also don't want the engineers to have thrown in the towel when it comes to having a bit of fun

I personally thought it was great to hear engineers talking in this way

Couple of questions you guys might know the answer to.

Is factory collection available to UK customers?
Is there an option to have the speed limiter removed.? My CSL has this and ive heard it mentioned on some M4 video reviews but dont see anything on the config.

Cheers
NO and NOT yet

I agree. Love mine when I start it up in the garage on a morning except sometimes it has an erratic tickover.
Agreed. It sounds like a lumpy V8 on start-up, and in an underground garage, its just fantastic.

Also keeps setting off the alarm on the Maserati Gran Turismo that parks near me biggrin
Apparently the car pages the owner every time the alarm goes off (can that be true?), so I am not sure we are making the best of friends.

Brief review on the M3

Excellent ride

Mega power, and torque

Excellent grip and handling

Put Cups on and chip the car, and you can go 991 GT3 hunting at half the cost – twice the practicality

Technology to satisfy most geeks, head up display is so welcome

Very good brakes

Looks really fresh

Very nice seats

Great value for money

A well rounded car. Probably the best M3 ever (and they have all punched above their weight), all things considered - perhaps not as emotive but efficient & does not short change aficionados.

All IMHO smile

Love the rear shot, funny how even on 19s (I'm presuming) the front wheels look too small for the car.

Is there a 20 / 21" option.

Bold choice going for black, looks great though!

One more pic.... BMW have finally woken up to providing better brakes. Ceramics is an option.

19's on Michelin Pilot SS.

AFAIK, other wheel size options not on offer yet. Perhaps for the CSL/GTS.

Looks good in black! cool I also love the idea of the HUD & am disappointed that they aren't becoming more commonplace. We seem to be prioritising in-car tech that goes out of it's way to distract us instead.

The one thing I will say though (and I know I've had ever since the E46 to get used to it) is that I still find the exhaust arrangement fussy / silly.

I've an e46 M3 and a M135i.

I know which brakes I'd rather be using. BMW are finally getting there, even with non-real-m-cars wink

I couldn’t agree more. It’s a big USP for me and I am very surprised that other manufacturers aren’t picking up on that. Somebody once told me that BMW has patented certain HUD functionality which prevents other brands from offering this option but I could not find a reliable source for this. Would make sense though seeing how even the new Mini has a HUD!

Carbon and extended leather....think the interior is superb but extended is a must and includes door tops too

Think I prefer the un-extended one given the price of upgrading to Extended leather. All that money just to have the glovebox door and a few other bits covered in leather seems a bit much.

Some great colour combinations here! And interesting to compare the E90 to the F30, the E90 looks quite time from the front in my opinion

Having a quick look on AT earlier this morning used examples with a few thousand miles on the clock are now in the £55k range.

I thought extended leather was the standard and full was the all covered version?
I went with full and it's all covered, doors, dash and glovebox, confusing having extended in there for the lesser leathered version.
