I'm going to be needing to change my tyres on the beast soon. Managed 8,000 miles out of the Michelin Super Sports, probably can get another 1-2k out of them.

I've heard great things about the cup 2's - they have a deeper tread pattern than the original cups (which I had fitted to my CSL) are better in the wet and last longer, and I love the tread pattern on them. Problem is the sizes don't match.

I'm running on the 19's fronts are 265/40 and rears are 295/35. You can get Cup 2s in the correct front size but rear is only available in 295/30 or 325/30.

Does anyone know if:

1. having a 30 profile instead of 35 will make any difference or if it can be fitted
2. can 325's fit on the rear wheel and again having 30 profiles can it work

Thanks very much and if any of you out there have tried anything other than the Michelin Super Sports, please let me know, I know the MPSS are great all round tyres but I fancy trying something else.

I'd be hesitant changing sizes/profiles as could be argued you've a non standard item fitted which may have implications for warranty/insurance.

I know F10 M5's leave the factory with i believe a Pirelli tyre as well as some leaving with MPSS, but I can't recall the variant.

I love the desire to try something else, but unless your M5 is a track car, I wouldn't want to run on Cups coming into winter. They're better than the cup+ in every way, but they'll still fall short of the MPSS on a cold wet day.
