I am in the same boat! Currently considering changing my frozen Edition M3 for something else as I have had it 3 years. Nothing is really taking my fancy.

Maybe a 997.2 Carrera S
Maybe a 997.1 Turbo

4 seats is a must.
4 Seats were a must for the OH. Test drive both as the turbo needs speed to feel alive. Having said that, it is far more feelsome than the M3 at any speed.

Feel I am going the same way..

What spec now? DCT & Comp? 2 pipe mod? or more.

I had the Eisenmann Race on my old E92, would buy again in a shot. Made the car.

Here she is....

That just looks superb - V8 race engine lovely /best colour / at speed /round the ring - does it get any better?

same here really - what to get next?

drove the new M4 recently and yes it is a nice car but that engine makes the car feel more like a 335, I found myself running in M mode all the time. It reminded me more of my old 335D than the E92 smile

The one thing that has changed for me is that I will soon no longer need 4 proper seats so can consider Porsche etc.

But my E92 is now worth £20K at most - maybe best just to keep it until it dies or I reach 100K miles and BMW will not extend the warranty?

It's unlikely to die. On the American m3 forum there's plenty running 250k plus. Still pulling the same the same times on their 'quarter' as they were then new.

Just keep them serviced there is no reason why they wouldn't do vast miles - just like any modern car. But a good one look after it and properly service it job done

Exactly the same dilemma here. Need 4 seats, and looked at all sorts to replace. C63, E63, XKR, 911, new Maserati Ghilbi, Tesla S (!), M6, M6GC, M4, M5. Just goes to show what a quality car the E92 M3 really is, as it is genuinely hard to replace. Had an E46 for 7 years prior to my E92 and the move to the new model was a no brainer. Loved the E46, but in my opinion the E92 just does everything better (apart from fuel economy). Luckily my local dealer understands that to sell cars you need more than a 20 minute run round the block. So had an M4 for a day, and whilst it was good, losing that V8 just doesn't do it any favours. The interior, apart from the seats just isn't up to scratch and in my opinion it felt more Mitsubishi Evo rather than BMW. It will be interesting to see what happens re discounting these and the market value of the E92s over the coming 12 months. In the end, I've settled on an M5 from dealer stock, so don't have to wait forever to collect. The next 24 hours will seem like months. How people have the patience to wait for a car to be built is beyond me.

For my needs, two young kids, the M5 ticked all the boxes. My dealer gave me one for a long weekend, so got to use it properly in everyday driving conditions. An absolute monster performance wise. The M4 may claim a quicker 0-60 but it the real world the M5 is different league. Add the comfort, build quality (which was lacking in the E63) and versatility (and muscle car looks from some angles) into the mix and it easily won the vote. So roll on 5pm tomorrow night when I pick up :-)

I have a nagging feeling that good E92s, especially late ones with competition packs, will start to become more desirable over the next few months/years so probably chopped in just at the wrong time. But such is life. Great car, but I think the M5 will be a more than able replacement.

Good luck OP with your choice. It's not an easy one and took me 4 months to decide and get a deal that made sense.

What are people's thoughts on E90 M3's price wise? Are they going to stay where they are or are they going to take a substantial bit once M3/4's become more common used?

I'm in the market for a Auc v8 m3 but wih a small budget of 20k ish..... I'm just wondering how long they will take to get there! It seems 25k picks a nice looking one at the moment.

How did you find the engine noise in the M5 vs the M4? Negotiated a possible deal with the wife...sell my E46 M3 (manual only done 53k miles) and M135i and get a bigger more practical monster saloon. The only two I am considering right now are the C63 and the M5 in the nearly new market. I love M cars having had a few, but want a car that feels special at any speed and rpm.

I'd like to think in the next year we'll see them drop a bit more. They've been at (for the absolute lowest I've ever seen) £17k+ for the past 2+ years.

What was the best deals on the run out model because they are being advertised at £46k now at over a year old?
