I was split between the the GTR and the M5. I decided on the M5 as it was more practical for my lifestyle.

After 200 miles you feel exactly the same as you got in. My experience of the GTR was that even a 30 second ride felt like a ride at thorpe park.

The GTR is a two seater race car, the M5 is a family car.

Yes, the GTR gets attention from the girls, but women know what side their bread is buttered on. <Waits for the ensuing banter..>
I drove the GTR as well matt, after a few miles my head was aching with the tyre/road noise.
The car was mental quick but I soon tired of it's roar.
Bought the LCI M5, M6 GC Comp Pack ordered for 1st October, that should be nice.

Pretty much sums up my findings.

Interesting vids, rolling starts so not really a head to head as already mentioned. I find the M5 mental but the lack of traction can be disconcerting, these cars have really reached the limits (or maybe exceeded) the amount of torque you can put down with RWD. Had a pretty bad tank slapper on Saturday on a dry road in MDM mode, it let go instantly and really caught me by surprise. I would not want any more power that's for sure.

Even in sane mode mine struggles for grip and jumps all over the place.

Having rear tyres that need changing doesn't help wink

The GTR is awesome for a wee while, then it's just embarrassing to be seen in.

I see a lot of fat, bald guys driving them.

And I've never seen one driven in anger....probably because they're too wide for B roads!

I'm not taking the piss here, I'm speaking honestly, as I see it.

I almost went down the 911 route, then I saw my reflection driving down a high street in one.

No No No.....Plonker!

M5 all the way, every day!!

Only someone unsure of themselves care what people who you don't even know think about them.
You bought your M5 because you didn't like the look of the GTR or 911. Sorry but it's you that sounds like a plonker saying childish things like that.

I'm just going off what you've written dude.

And I'm paraphrasing " I see alot of fat bald guys driving it" so doesn't that mean if a lot of fatties bought an M5 you would then sell it?

I'm far from a keyboard warrior but my point still is valid. That what people think of you has SOME factor in your car choice.

Let me clarify things Sir!

I, wee me, felt like a complete plonker when I saw the image of me, wee me, driving a 911.

I did not call anyone a plonker.

And I do seem to encounter rotund, follically challenged chaps driving GTRs.

I see what I see and I mean no one any harm.

I check my reflection daily as I drive past shop windows.

I look great, the classic BMW M5 driver look!!!

FFS, what is wrong with you?

I felt like a plonker driving the 911, get over it.
