M3 CSL VS M3 GTS at Spa trackday
Discussion
The owner of the GTS was a top guy and said he had owned the csl gtr built by simpsons in the past.
I improved my times loads towards the end of the day but figured this would be of most interest to you guys..

That GTS was stunning & sounded epic. Not sure i encountered your CSL on track over the 2 days but were quite a few Bimmers on track so i possibly did.
I've crucified the shoulders on my front tyres MPSS but they performed way beyond my expectations & i feel with a fw more laps i could have cracked the magical 3 min mark. Best lap was a 3:05 & a top speed along Kemmel of 159mph.

I was driving the GTS. First lap I had just come out of the pits, so everything was cold and had an instructor in the car. Jamie (the OP) and I had just been chatting in the pits, so I knew he wanted to see what the car was like. Front discs and pads were brand new on so I was still being gentle with them.
Second lap was better (particularly Eau Rouge) but in the slower corners the instructor was having me go slower to try to get the line right (which I wasn't) whilst I was trying to keep Jamie behind
The video isn't representative completely of either car, and the CSL is well modified where the GTS is standard (other than different brake discs and pads at the front, and different tyres)
Still, you can say the GTS is much quicker in the straights and has better torque. I think under braking there will be little difference. The CSL is more nimble in the slower corners, and the GTS more stable in the longer corners.
Both great, great cars and both went much faster later in the day / day after.
Best laps for me were 2:57s in heavy traffic and two up. I would constantly hit heavy traffic at the bus stop, and would arrive there at the apex around 2:48, so a lot of time lost. I'm sure I could have done 2:55, and the car could do far better than that.
Believe Jamie got down to low 2:50s in the CSL. He drove very well.

Where's video of you and your old GTR?
David
I live in an area where it takes about 3 months to upload even small video clips & my GoPro footage is about 1GB per lap Also a bit busy earning the money to buy my replacement tyres.Where's video of you and your old GTR?
David
Footage of the GT-R on track is already on the owners FB page (think it was his 2:59 lap). Can't post photos as the 'Upload an image (beta) link on here no longer works. World is falling apart around me. Will try to upload video later this week.
