Hi just sold my tvr and after an m5 e39 I think, looking at some next weekend, what models are the best for oil consumption, 1999 or the 2001 updated versions, i'm getting from friends it's hit and miss on either, and how much is an lpg coversion? if any one has had one done? as would like to run it as a main car for the next 2 years atleast, any helpful tips appreciated before I view an 1999 and 2001 model shortley
Thank's in advance
Jim

2000 model non facelift owner. 176k miles of love so far and i still get excited about driving her. The only car to waft like a Limo when you have a hang over, and trouble a GSXR down a twisty road when you're in the mood. I averaged 87mph on a 2400 mile trip to Monaco and back for Gumball party last year with the other half asleep most of the way.

In the right light they are a thing of muscular beauty, a far more purposeful design than the E60 to me.

Oil is a consumable, it says its not but they are all 2stroke i'm sure smile 1000 mile a litre is acceptable. No idea where it goes as it doesn't smoke or drip so must end up in the ether like my bank balance. Its been said loads but buy on condition not miles, mine is well looked after and tight as a drum (not for sale, ever I will probably be buried in it)

Heritage leather, wood, colour are all to your taste but an Imola Red one with all black and aluminium trim would be oooooh loverly and an appreciating asset I'm sure. Mines Lemans Blue with black/grey and while dated inside is still a special place to be.

Don't expect it to set your pants on fire like a Tiv, but press on and look down at the speedo and its always reading 40% more than you expect it to.

Its a love affair, expect shortly to be eye'ing up larger parking spaces than before so as to protect your baby against other idiots door dings and having deep discussions on forums about rear tyre choice.

Heater buttons will crack, bloody annoying and absurdly expensive for what they are, sat nav is either rubbish or absent not a problem of course, noise is a gain personal choice mine is standard.

Enjoy it, I may buy a few more, if only to save them before they all get chavved. SAVE THE M!!

LPG would be a waste on an M5. I am using mine at the moment for 1200+ miles a month at low 20's biggrin
