hats really good going Paul, how did you run the car in?.
Like i stole itsmile Not used any oil either in close to 7000 miles (of which probably 750+ miles were on track & 1000 miles of Euro hooning.

TBH, i'm maybe jesting a little. I kept the revs below 5k for the first 500 miles as did a drive from Lancs to Suffolk & back at sensible cruising speeds with the odd play through the gears to loosen everything up, after that drove it like i stole it.

Wow, that's almost 28mpg ish? Stunning performance for a near 600BHP (I don't care what people say, these things are running at nearly 600BHP standard!) 2 tonne mega saloon.

To think, you were getting that sort of economy on 2.0 Vauxhall Vectras just 10 years ago.
Average on the car was 29.2 when i pulled up at home. Had some stop start motorway traffic in the mix but most was at cruising speeds.

Mine was running more than 600bhp standard (thank you BMW).

Thanks all. The 640d is also a possibility.
Don't do it! The big DERV's are boring as hell to drive. I've had most M's and convinced myself that a 535D would be 'almost' an M and save me a few quid on running costs.

It wasn't even close. No fun to drive, dull throttle response, dull transmission, crap noise, no sense of occasion when driven, I could go on but you get the picture wink M all day, every day.
I see your point. Currently in a derv range rover though so it's all relative.
