WORST BMW DEALERS
Discussion
I'm coming at this from a slightly different direction.
Whilst I readily acknowledge that some dealers "issues" are a general directive filtering down from the top (always look to add a few items, etc) there is a strong human element here.
I actually use two dealers because I work 50 miles from where I live and sometimes it is convenient to get the car collected from the office and on other occasions (such as when a major warning light comes on first thing) I want to pop in locally. Both dealers have at least one service rep who has been really good and both have at least one who is useless.
I actually make a point now on bookings to make sure I know who will be looking after me as it really does make a difference. You also need to be lucky with the mechanic though, as you have zero control over that

and the worst of the worst in my experience.........Snows Portsmouth, they were diabolical, had to threaten small claims court to get work done which wasn't done in teh AUC check.
I had similar experiences with Snows from when I had a company car from them in 99. I found them arrogant and unhelpful. Nothing like walking up the service desk and standing there for 10 minutes while the service advisor finishes typing /writing without so much as looking up, much less saying they'll be a few minutes. And then when they finally did deal with you the general impression was they were doing you a favour by giving you the time of day. I bought my next car in 2008 from Baron's in Farnborough and they were OK. The next one was bought oop north in 2011 and on ecains advice/recommendation I took the car to Scotthall and after an initial hiccup they were very good to deal with. Then the usual service advisor left after it became Partridge and the new staff couldn't be bothered to return phone calls. So I was ready to go back to Baron's in Ash Vale...Thankfully things at Snows have moved on. There's now a receptionist when you walk in which insures you can't/won't get a stiff ignoring. The two best service advisors plus several of the techs from Partridge are now at Snows and it's made a world of difference. I'm now more than happy to use them again. Tara and Lydia are great to deal with.
Dick Lovett Swindon - found them excellent
Sytner Harold Wood - sometimes excellent, sometimes OK
Barons Hindhead - brief dealings, but helpful
Stephen James Blackheath and Bromley - utterly useless, trying to buy a car and also ther sales department. Parts, oddly enough seem to be good.

I find it funny how it can be department dependent at certain dealers.
Sales at Elms Cambridge were fantastic. Service are absolutely awful. I'd happily buy another car from them, but then take it somewhere else for servicing/warranty.

Whereas at Bedford, Elms are utterly terrible for both sales and serviceYes, I've have cause to take the car back to Elms when jobs haven't been done properly, but, because of the relationship built up over many years with the staff "on the ground" [I try and avoid the "management"] the work has been rectified without any problem or argument.
