So I've got my M3 on order and got a couple of days left to firm up the spec.
I've gone for:

DCT Gearbox
Mineral Grey
Sakhir Orange Full Leather
Carbon Trim
Jet Black Wheels
Adaptive Headlights
Harmon Kardon Stereo
Sun Protection Rear Windows

The question is, have any other owners who have had their car for a while now wished they had specced something they hadn't, or specced something they wished they hadn't bothered with.

There are a couple of the options like Internet and Interactive Entertainment that I am not sure what they offer and if they are even worth having. Are these just software upgrades that I can add at the dealer after delivery or do I have to order them with the car?

Cheers

Jack

Have you driven One?

Lots of road noise?
Fake noise?

If you haven't already used one, I'd try and take a look at a car with the Heads Up Display option, I'd add one in heartbeat above any cosmetic options, transforms the driving experience in my opinion.

Jack,

When's yours being built, looks like my dealer cocked right up. Think we ordered the same day but they contacted me during the week to,say they then only had a new year build slot (originally told end oct) but they'd managed to swap an M4 slot with mine and have now got me late Nov.... Not impressed at all as I asked them to confirm 3 times before I placed my deposit and under promise/over deliver...

HUD is brilliant, after my F10 M5 I would spec now whenever I can on any car.

The adaptive lights are also a great option.

Is the M3 available with those side window blinds? If it is, then I'd be dropping the SPG to avoid that half finished look.

Had a chat with a new m3 owner yesterday. He loves it and has just had the running in service. Said it feels a lot quicker all around than the e92.

It's the first one I've seen in the flesh. The seats looked great, I hate the seats in my m3.

First off, has anyone out there gone for a manual? What's it like? Does the auto downshift blip work well? Does it expose some engine turbo lag?

Second up, what sort of mpg are people getting on a run? Can you hit mid thirties?

I tried the demo car with HuD. Not really sold on it. Seems a very expensive option for what it is.

Yes rear blinds are available. In fact they are included in the full leather option.

I've not driven the manual. Don't believe there are any manual demo cars in the country.

HUD is a grower. I wasn't sold on it but 5,000 miles in I wouldn't be without.

The storage package is useful and relatively inexpensive.

Comfort access is a nice luxury too.

I trust that this is not replacing the Porsche?

The GT3 is staying for now, but might sell it in the spring.

Certainly going to use the M3 for trackdays though.

I really wouldn't bother with the Internet option.
Specced it on the Alpina and in 3 years used it twice - very slow and clunky.

Spend the money on something else.

That'll be a tank of 99RON then :-) think it's only £95 or something silly.

Personally not a fan of Mineral on an M3 as it doesn't look shouty enough. But that's just me.

The only option I might possibly add is a reversing camera. The main option is H&K to make if feel like a £60k car but you've ticked that already.

When is it going into build?

The Internet on your phone will work much, much better....
The Entertainment option does look quite interesting though.

Mineral because it's an everyday car to be used by myself and my wife for work. She would rather nobody recognised it as anything special. We had a FocusRS for a couple of months and as good as it was we had to sell it due to all the unwanted attention it brought her. And it was in the most subtle colour (not green or white). She didn't feel safe being in it on her own. So our cars are all black or grey. If it was just a weekend or fun car then yes, a brighter colour would be nice. Though the blue, yellow and orange do nothing for me, so not sure what else that leaves.

What is the entertainment option? I can't find any info on it at all. Anyone got a link to what is included in that option? Is it just streaming audio?

Trickster, Sorry, forgot to add that it should be available for delivery at the end of the month. When I went in last week they said they did have an issue when they tried to put my order in the other week but eventually got a slot for the end of the month. Fingers crossed it's in early November at the latest.

Does anyone have a link for an online manual? I'd like to get some winter tyres ordered and wanted to check what sizes I need to get for the standard wheels.

What did you think of the sound it makes? I assume it didn't bother you hence your order.

Can second the Internet thing, don't get it, absolute cr*p.

Online entertainment - http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/technology/conn...

Going to need at least a good 3G signal for it.
