Hello, I am approaching the time to change tyres. Is it there a particular set that I should fit? I only use the car on the road (not racing it).
Thank you

Probably Continental Sport Contacts if you want to go top notch - maybe £150/£160 a corner.

If you want to go a bit cheaper, I just fitted Kumho KU39s to my E46 cab (19"). Not that the M gets pushed to its limits on the open road (especially with the Mrs driving it more than me smile), but they seem very good for the money with no issues to report or any initial negative thoughts.

Got mine online from www.tyreleader.co.uk - very good price, and very good service.

I put Michelin SuperSports on my CSL last year and absolutely love them (road use only)

What he said, my M3 mates have these aswell and love them. I'll be putting them on my M5 when I wear out the PS2's

What everyone said :P.

I'd go for the Super Sports.

Admittedly an E36 M3, but I have Pilot Sport 3's and they are exceptional. Dear knows what the Super Sports would be like!

+1 for SuperSports - love that 'endless grip' they seem to provide. Excellent on road and track.

Previously had ContiSport 5P; the limit was far easier to find with them. A mate who likes to find that limit preferred the Contis....so I guess it's just a case of what you prefer.

Feeling the love here for the MSS.

So much so, that I've just ordered four for mine. Cheers!

Conti M3s. When I bought my one a couple of years ago the Conti M3s were hardly worn and a fast x country journey in the wet still brings back great memory's. Excellent wet or dry, but my car tramlines terribly and I can only think that it's due to these tires ?

Anyone else had this with Contis ?

The OE Conti M3s are, to put it bluntly, crap (for a performance tyre).

They're expensive for what are essentially no better than a mid-range Asian tyre. Falkens and Vreds of the same period were much better at about half the price.

I had two sets of Conti M3s on my Z4MC (standard fitment) and then went to PSS. The PSS last twice as long, are cheaper, and perform better in all conditions than the Conti M3.

Mine has Conti M3s on the fronts at the moment and they tramline like a bh! I can't wait to get rid tbh.

Although, that said, the Contis do make power-slides easier. The Michelin seem to have way more outright grip on a dry road though.

Which is partially why I prefered my E46 M3 on Bridgestones to Michelins.

Sorry guys, but I don't agree re Contis, I've had some epic dices In my one ( there always seems to be some Jacko hassling my rear bumper when I'm in it ) and I'm very pleased and no problem with them whatsoever and they've been great in the rain. The cornering limits are simply awesome on a well set up e46 M3.

The only thing I'm unsure about is the tram lining. If Contis are Well known for this on e46 M3s then I will consider changing to another possibly £ cheaper brand.
They are now getting low on tread, hence I'm looking at other options.

Anyone tried Toyos ? I have Toyo T1Rs on the rear of a modded very quick Griff, I've been very pleased with them, but they let go quickly and with No warning. However This is probably more a characteristic of the car, ( it was the same with my first Griff on different tires ) very short wheelbase, just 1,060 KGs and a very torquey camshaft.
I rarely drive the thing in the wet though, as they are frankly dangerous / very unpredictable, so am unable to comment on Toyos in the rain.
