Everyone I've converted to PSS have said that the ONLY downside is the extra grip when you want to slide it.

This comes from people in e46 330s, e34 M5s, GT-R33 who thought their PS2s, PS3s, Toyo T1-Rs, etc. were the dog's danglies.

Sidewalls are quiet compliant, which means nexter to a stiffer tyre, they also lack a tiny bit of feel.

That said, if people thought the T1R was the dogs, they won't miss feel.

Contis are fine but I was going through the rears every 8 months. Now on Michelins.

Which is partially why I prefered my E46 M3 on Bridgestones to Michelins.

Hi mate

I can't get PSS for my M3 frown

Between Goodyear F1 AS2, Advan V105 and Goodyear which would you say is best for use on road and wet track days? Got slicks for dry track work.

What sizes?

I'm afraid I can't give you an answer from direct experience. I've tracked the F1 A2 and the Yoko and they both stood up to track abuse ok, of the two I'd probably pick the Yoko due to a slightly harder construction, but that's gut feel, not tested.

Your 3rd tyre mentioned was a Goodyear again, do you have an actual third?

Oh, the F1 A3 is coming soon. I've unofficially seen it in testing, and it looks a lot like the MPSS.

Size I need is 265/35/18 and I'd pick MPSS every time but can't get that size in UK and can't find in EU. Available in USA though. frown

So looked at:-
Goodyear F1AS2
Advan V105
Or Bridgestone S001

I want a tyre full of communication Nd great grip in wet and dry, but is also happy on track and won't melt.

Using cups right now but they are poor on road even in dry as can't heat them up in uk dry sub 20c weather so easily. In the wet they are pretty aweful and lack feel when cold. On track in the dry they are epic though and don't over heat.

Got MPSS on my 911 and they just seem perfect tyre, huge feedback and confidence in all conditions both road and track, plus they wear exceptionally well and work great on track, don't over heat, they just seem perfect tyre!

Sorry Gibbo, I missed your post originally.

My opinion on your selections:

Goodyear: Great wet grip, questionable feel. They used to be really good, but during the updates to get better label scores they seem to have gone a little soft. It's a bit of a lottery as to whether your size has been updated
Yoko: Surprisingly good tyre, I've tracked them in S4s at Ascari and had no problems with them going off. Good feel and wet grip, but not that cheap.
Bridgestone: Poor wet grip, fantastic feed. I loved these on my e46, but then it seems some of the smaller S001s are being updated with added softness.

It seems you've missed out the obvious chose. If you love the MPSS, I'd fit the MPS2. Despite what the internet tells you, there's not that much of a difference.

You mean Pilot Sport 2? Always found them good, some reviews say they are poor in wet though, but I remember them being good, so are Michelin still making them? Did fine they wear far quicker than MPSS though!

Might give the Advans ago if you say feel was very good in them as they are only £120 a corner so really cheap from tyreleader, cheaper than F1AS2 smile

Yep, they're still being made in all the sizes the PSS aren't (and some they are)

The official stats on wet braking is the PSS has 2.1 seconds over 4.1kms over the PS2. I'll go out on a limb and state as that's the official Michelin figure, it's probably the biggest gap found, which means in road driving, wet grip probably isn't a million miles away.

Lets not forget, the PSS aren't the best in the wet:

Would be great to hear what you think if you live the Yokos ago. I need to caveat my point about feedback, they felt good, but I was in a new S4 with no comparison tyre that day, so there's only so much I could learn. Auto express rated them, and I trust Kim.

Did I mention the Nokian zLine yet? I really want to try a set.

I always bought Conti M3 tyres for both of mine.
I had Michelin's on the front of my last one when I bought it and it tramlined terribly, so I switched to M3s and it cured it.

If only this were true. You can't find the PS2's anywhere now. And if you know somewhere that you can do let me know! I've been running nothing but PS2's on my E46 330 for years now but the rears need replacing and I'm being forced into PS3's which aren't the PS2 replacement as we know, that's the SuperSport. But PS2's are nowhere to be found and they don't do SuperSports in my size. Annoying to say the least! So new PS3's all round it is.
