Went to do the school run on Friday to find my F10 M5 LCI would not unlock, tried to get in with the manual key and start with the transponder next to the steering lock, still no joy frown

Called BMW emergency who came out and spent two hours looking into the issues, it would appear one of the 14 Cpu's had a brain fart and locked out all the systems! After effectively a ctrl alt del reboot, all was fine, however they recommended it go into BMW cooper Thames dutton for a full health check to try and diagnose what the cause was, hopefully get my car back sometime this week.

Anyone else come across anything similar ?

Cheers

Twice my key fob hasn't worked and I've had to open the car with the key and then everything is OK from there.

Be interesting to hear what BMW suggest is the issue with your car.

BTW mine is a November 2013 LCi

Does yours have comfort access? Might be the proximity sensor.

Is there any way to turn it off?

So it appears enterprise who deliver all BMW emergency cars delivered me a car with a slow puncture ! They can't currently replace the loan car, but are happy to charge me £200 for a new tyre.

Hmmmm, not impressed, firstly 4 month old M5 fails with no eta to fix. Then first loan car gets delivered with a slow puncture that enterprise want to charge me to fix. I wonder what the second loan car will bring

Not a great experience.

I guess the only good news is it should hopefully be just a wobble as i've never heard of this happening before so likely just a one off. Doesn't make it right, but possibly just a blip.

Mines been solid since day 1 & has covered 7000 trouble free miles with some of those been hard milessmile Saying that, i can't say the same about my 1st one.

The supplier dealer is cooper Thames ditton and they have been great. BMW emergency have also be really helpful, unfortunately BMW emergency use enterprise who are f**king useless.

1st replacement car a 520 delivered with a slow puncture, which enterprise want to charge me for !
Talked to BMW emergency this morning and they arranged for enterprise to replace with another 5series this evening at 7pm.
I left work early then got a call at 6:51 from enterprise to say that they could not find any cars and the local branch was now closed.
Phone BMW emergency to explain my displeasure.

Luckily the tyre has remained inflated all day so can only assume it must be a very slow puncture.

This has just happened to mine, dead as a Dodo.

Waiting (at home luckily) for BMW Emergency to arrive.

Realized it was broken when locking up the house last night, saw the car sitting there with the front eyebrows flickering along with the rear lights, only on one side!

Very strange that, I never had a problem ever with mine, what year is yours?.

Its a Jan 2014, the engineer is still here at the moment but so far it looks like just a simple flat battery. I did forget to lock the car for a few hours last night, so could have drained itself.

Odd occurance in any case though.

Defective Battery could well be the fault, you would not have run it down as it has a built in safety feature to stop that happening.
