Is it a fun car?

It certainly brings a smile to my face every time I drive it, it's fast as fk, comfortable etc.

If you want a fun car get something small and track focused.

The M5 is capable more than fun perhaps?

W8PMC, I enjoyed the SPA video, nice and smooth. The track day looked good, nice weather not too much traffic for the most part and a lot safer than Touristenfahrten. That stripped out 3 series that passed you must have been packing quite a bit of power the way it accelerated down the straights. SPA is probably one of the best circuits for the M5, very fast with plenty of straights to enjoy the power. I think the video summed up perfectly why an M5 is so good, drive to the track in complete comfort, enjoy the track day have the ability to pass most things (subject to talent) and drive back home again in complete comfort, with the added benefit of the prestige that owner an M car provides.

Thanks. I love Spa & will be doing the September 2 day track day again next year.

I did a few laps of Nordschleife en route to Spa & did video one of the laps, however i encountered numerous hold ups as is the norm nowadays at TF with a couple of yellow flags & a couple of d1cks not wanting to let me by. Vid clip below:

That was a nice lap of the Nordsleife and very little traffic really. I did a few laps a couple of years ago when I had my Z06 and it was just too busy, too many kamikaze pilots in their stripped out track day specials dive bombing you into corners. On the same day we managed to get a ride with Sabine in the M5 taxi and to say I was impressed was an understatement fantastic car control and very relaxed. I can't remember what corner it was but we were fully lit at speed at an angle of about 30 degrees and she still had time to take a hand off the wheel and waive to a photographer.I just remember thinking to myself "don't give up the day job".
You will probably appreciate this lap in a stock M6, the guy does race however.

Had mine almost 2 years now, which is good going for me....

Rather than saying is the M5 car a fun car, I would say its a fun car to run as a daily drive. The car ticks more boxes than most of my previous cars, happy sitting in traffic carting the family around, leaving at the Airport or railway station, but then set it all to sports+ and open the valves on my IPE Exhaust and yes it is fun......!

A lot of f10 m5 threads/interest at the minute. I'd love to go for one next when they hit mid/late £30's auc probably in 12 months. Probably a safer place to put your money over 18 months rather than an m4.

M5s are enjoyable cars to drive, but they are not sports cars. I owned a manual DB9 and an E60 M5 simultaneously for a couple of years and found that I drove the M5 less and less. My V12 Vantage is much more fun than either. I still have an F10 itch that I feel like scratching, but I am under no illusion that it could replace the V12V. The M5, however, is the perfect car for those times when you have to transport a family and luggage, but you will be driving on fun roads and don't want to miss out on the fun.

I remember your M5 Zod (old BMW3W days) and I think it's fair to say the F10 is light years ahead of the E60 and a totally different car to drive?

It feels different, it has a very different engine, a better gearbox and evolved handling.but it's still a big car. I haven't had much time in one, but I have no expectation that it will be as much fun to drive as a lighter car with a much shorter wheelbase. It's not designed for that.

In some ways, I would liken the M5 to the 911 Turbo/Turbo S.

Very efficient, capable and fast.......but too 'detached' and not nearly driver focused enough.......and hence not really 'fun.' driving
