The usual suspects fit that bill.

Yes but none are really that exciting and are downsizing their engine sizes and moving towards forced induction. It's a pity the Lexus RCF looks like a dogs dinner and is too heavy.

I'd be surprised if the AMG wasn't still exciting.

That is where my money is heading if indeed it does deliver some character.

Don't like the look of the pictures I've seen. Hopefully the coupe will look better but probably won't be available till late 2015.

This is the way I always have seen it too, by the way I hope you are enjoying the new motor. thumbup
I'll be getting a BMW 0.5 series in 10 year's time.

Cheers Lee. - Yes, it's good so far (nearly 800 miles now). I've been treating it pretty gently during run in, but I've had the occasional play with it. It's bloody fast compared to the 330i, even when using less than 4k rpm and more importantly, it's significantly more oversteery too. smile The Michelin PSS tyres are phenomenal, even compared to the PS2s on the 330i, the car just grips and grips. I still miss an LSD occasionally, but that's only really been noticeable when pulling out of wet T-junctions recently. At higher speed, a squeeze of the throttle brings all the torque into play and can unsettle the rear quite easily. driving

My only complaint so far is that the hazard warning lights come on almost every day when I brake for the office, going from NSL to 10 mph for my car park. I wonder how tricky it would be to get that coded out.

I see the TTRS has made way for a 640d now too, how are you getting on with that?

Pleased you are enjoying it and I think they must make a cracking daily driver and I would really like one myself, cheers for mentioning the 640d we both love it, gorgeous interior and it has a very impressive engine for a diesel and it makes the 330i seem like a milk float regards performance!

Only criticism is it feels really big in tight situations and you are always worried about catching the wheels, its returning 40 mpg which is good I think for the size/performance of it and I just cant get enough of wanting to drive it and I never felt that way with the TT.

I bet you cant wait for the run in period to be over with the M135i and I bet you will have a riot in it then! biggrin

It really cant be that bad if it makes it into ECOTY! This is the best of the best! I agree that the Golf R is a great car but its not a BMW and never will be and lets be honest its no where near as quick as an M3.
There is no direct competition in its class anywhere near this test. I think its easy to jump on the band wagon about the noise and liveliness of the handling etc because everyone is taking about it, but is it really that bad???

I do seem to remember people slagging off the F10 M5 when it first came out and look at that now, who hasn't got one!
Internet tough guy stand back people.

The days of cheap PCP and Lease deals will soon be over now the economy is moving so you're talking st. Also rather have an Exige S or Gayman S for a similar monthly rental.

Get back in your golf.

I have to report the recent purchase of the M4 after 6 years of M3 E92 ownership. Conclusion? I actually prefer the F80 for day to day road use. Seem to remember in 2007 the E92 M3 launch reports questioned the brakes and steering. OK the engine is not as rewarding as the S54 V8 but how often did any owner use the 6/8000rpm power band? More often you got caught in the wrong gear by a 330D. Short of track use the flat power band of the @55 engine is far more useful

I remember my boss catching two wheels of his RS5 on the kerb on the way out of one of Heathrow's many car parks, that made me wince. I can imagine the trepidation when negotiating such a hazard in an even larger car! 465lb ft must be fun though. Are you seeing the traction light flicker much?

I've done over 800 miles in the M135i now and am tempted to change the oil at 1200 miles or so before properly giving it some. The grip is still impressing me though, even on a wet road at 2 Celsius it hangs on so well.

Anyone seen the Youtube street racing videos of the E92 vs the F80? Surprising outcomes, E92 wins a few duels down to the fact below 60mph the F80 can't put the power down and just spins. By the time traction has gained the E92 is ahead.

Confirms what some reviews on here have been re; traction issues.

What tyres does the F80 come with? Could this be the failing?

I've noticed this also and this was the problem I encountered with the C63 AMG I drove as it had so much torque. With the E92 M3 I am in 2nd gear when nailing it off roundabouts where as in the F80 3rd is better and don't mash the throttle like you can in the E92 due to all the torque. I think this is why I enjoyed the test drive in the F80 as you had to think more about just flooring it and holding on. Both nice cars in my view with each having positive and negatives over the other.

It has surprised me to be fair and like your M135i it seems to grip really well and the traction light seems to behave itself, our old 330d though the traction light used to flash up left right and centre in comparison.

The 640d picks up so well at low revs though that you don't really need to shove the throttle to the floor whereas you know from experience in the 330i you have to mash the throttle to the floor just to get it to wake up and then it still doesn't really go anywhere!!

I remember when we were running the TT in I couldn't wait to start using the power once it was run in and from what I have seen in videos you will be really impressed with how quick the M135i is. biggrin
