Nice up to date article there Eddie... Just half a decade out of date - 2014!!?!

Anyway this was not a post about Audi vs BMW drivers and who are the biggest tit's, as that is a rather sweeping label and the facts I'm sure actually vary widely. It was a post entitled "RS6" which I commented on as I own and drive a C7 RS6 and had an opinion on that. Try taking some of your own advice and read a selection of reputable car sites and I think you will find that 'most' will say the C7 RS6 is one of the most amazing cars out there, which I agree with from experience. Have you owned, driven or even been in a C7 RS6, (which are very different to C5 and C6 versions)? As I have been in old and new M3, M4 and M5's and various other top of the range BMW's (650 & 740) and in my opinion, (to which 'Mr Troll' I am entitled), the RS6 is one hell of a car and considering it's an estate and not a super-saloon you are not really even comparing apples with apples comparing an RS6 to an M5. A bit like comparing my TVR to a BMW X3.

I agree TVRHasgo. I currently own a new M5, I’ve had most AMG’s and M cars and I was never historically a fan of Audi (for no real good reason other than their reputation for being a bit wooden).

I’ve been lucky to have had some a amazing cars but the C7 RS6 Performance my wife had last year was right up there in my top three of favourites. It’s by far the best all rounder, I always called it the 95% car as it was at least that good at everything that any other car I’ve driven can do.

I had a DB11 for a short while whilst we had the RS6 and honestly, driven back to back the Aston was totally outclassed by comparison. I actually enjoyed driving the RS6 more so that resulted in a prompt end to the Aston ownership.

There are more dynamic cars, there are faster cars (just), there might even be more refined cars (but not by much, I likened the RS6 refinement to what a Bentley Conti estate would be) but there’s really very few that can do it all with the practicality and aesthetics of the RS6. An E63 AMG wagon comes close, but loses any advantage by looking so average.

I rate the new M5 very highly, but I’m not sure I actually prefer it to the RS6. It’s probably a dead heat between the two for very different reasons, so that’s a testament to the RS6 given it’s now obsolete and the M5 is brand new.

That's exactly how I feel towards the C7 RS6, it just seems a little more special than even more contemporary rivals. Goodness knows what the C8 RS6 will like.

Palmball and Schermerhorn.... Thanks for bringing this post back to what it was about, cars! Amen to what you both say.
