These are beautiful looking cars, but the shocking build quality ruined ownership for me.
No real issues mechanically, but the fit and finish never failed to disappoint.
It doesn't stop me admiring them, every time I see one though.
mines been fine but i agree, the build quality wasn't the best, hard brittle plastics used, and can be very rattly. it is a decade old nearly however.

Here's mine with an older cousin that shares garage space.

The Z4's just gone over 30,000 miles - it feels really tight and actually quite well screwed together inside with no rattles or bits of trim that have gone astray. I've had it three years, done 9,000 miles (although down to about 1,000 a year now), and the engine still never ceases to amaze me. It's got a Schnitzer exhaust and strutbrace; which were allegedly fitted by the supplying dealer from new (at ridiculous cost) and currently on Pilot Supersport tyres which do appear to address some of the twitchy handling issues that are reported on the OEM Conti's.

I love that roof line!

I think it could be. Prices are strong and already creeping upwards. That's why I'm thinking I have to buy one sooner rather than later.

Sorry, not a detailed pic but you get the idea of how they look. I believe they're made for ACS by Remus, and they have a one piece finisher (containing the two pipe outlet) per side so a bit different to the usual aftermarket systems. I think they look somewhat nicer since I had the inner sections stripped and chromed, which picks out the twin pipes better than before when they got lost in the blackness.

The sound is really good - an amplification of the OEM noise with no drone at all.

Been thinking for a while I need a car with more of everything but didn't really know what I wanted. But then I got a go of a Z4MC and couldn't get over how good it was. So I've been looking the last few weeks for a good one but wanted to know does anyone here own one, what running costs are like, what it's like to live with every day, etc.
Awesome car. Only had mine since saturday but it has blown me away in its performance and how "special" it feels - this is having owned both a couple of regular (but quick) BMWs and driven plenty of proper exotica.

Dont do it if you can.

I sold mine because I needed more seats. But I'd still have it otherwise.

Modern ///M cars are faster for sure but its hard to get one to match the same driving experience.

The problem is that I need the cash to fund the next car. That said if values continue to stay firm I may actually be better off digging further into my savings for the next car and having both.

I have one of the 18 white ones that were made, there are 17 now as one was exported to NZ.

one of the other 17 is up for sale at the moment as it happens.

The value of mine has gone up in the last year as its quite rare

Considering one of these as a weekend toy, was originally looking at boxster s as quite fancy roof off motoring in the summer days. Is there much difference dynamically between the Z4MC and the Convertible version? Have to say the coupe looks a lot better.

Super cool cars, very special place to be. I felt it was very much BMW's take on a TVR.

My dad has one, was going to replace it with an Aston Vantage and decided the BMW was a better car!
I've owned all 3 the TVR community didn't get on with the Beemer. One of the reasons the M had to go was the gearbox it's a real brute combined with the heavy clutch.

Good man! Enjoy it smile

V8A - interesting, I have only limited time with TVRs, have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the Tuscan driving experience. Just not sure how much I'd enjoy the ownership experience. One day.
