Wow, that's an endorsement.

Highly focused driver's car, as much as the CSL if not a tad more.

Congratulations these are just a beautiful design - timeless. I had a 3.0si many years ago.

Had a hankering for a while and went to look at one today. Was so impressed with it, deal done. Cracking car.

Good man! Enjoy it smile

V8A - interesting, I have only limited time with TVRs, have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the Tuscan driving experience. Just not sure how much I'd enjoy the ownership experience. One day.
Simply you just drive the BM without the worries.

I've owned all 3 the TVR community didn't get on with the Beemer. One of the reasons the M had to go was the gearbox it's a real brute combined with the heavy clutch.
The gearbox was my reason for ditching a Z4MR ... truly horrible - a real shame as the car other than that was superb.

I put up with the gearbox on my TVR Griffith - somehow I found that easier to use than the BMW !

Still looking for one. Done quite a bit of research on them and don't really need satnav and would also make it easie for putting in a different headunit if I wanted to. There's less than 600 Coupe's in the UK

al these people with gearbox issues needed to get the car checked out, I've owned mine for 7 years now and the clutch is nice and light and the gearbox is buttery smooth..... its actually one of my favourite aspects of the car, lovely positive change!

Mine was great, bit stiff around 1st to 2nd when cold but apart from that I'm generally gutted it went

Have to say I had no issues with the clutch/gearbox in the one I drove yesterday.

glad its not just mine tbh, maybe its something to do with the way its been treated by previous owners?

i have a 02 1.0l Nissan micra with 30k miles and i swear to god the clutch is heavier on that car than my z4m. lmao!

The clutch on my Roadster is a similar weight to my daily driver, Mazda3 and the action is far nicer and more positive.

I am in this camp too and I found the gearbox/clutch more forgiving in my TVR than I did in my Z4M and the gearbox was my biggest frustration also sadly, the Z4M did have the ingredients on paper to be very special though for a fact.

Quick question for those in the know - whats the score with the vanos in these engines. Have read a bit and its not a cheap fix if a problem develops. Is there a service routine for them or is it just pot luck if you get a problem ?

^^^ I think it is such a lovely shape the Coupe and that's a really good photo...I still cant understand why I went with the Roadster...I think I need my head testing!

Pot luck I believe however all Z4Ms have the final incarnation of the S54 engine so included some grades including updated VANOS bolts?

I have not heard of any Z4Ms with the issue, probably because they are newer and generally lower miles than many M3s

Had the same thoughts when I owned my roadster, there's no getting away from the beauty of the coupe but you can't beat the roadster for top down, noise and big sky experience for sheer visceral thrills at any speed. The engine note is just mental as you wind that engine up... I learned to deal with the fact it didn't look quite as good standing still, few cars do.

Of course if you like the S54 engine and want something that has more style than the z4m roadster but has that all important open air feeling then there is another, albeit more rarer alternative.......

Top down I agree the roadster does look good thumbup...but I could never get past how bad it looks with the roof up and the crappy fabric roof and I know a hardtop improves things a little but it still doesn't sit right for me.
