Looks good will get a proper look later. Just got this months evo, the m4 didn't do so well at all in car of the year…..
BMW just cant really win because the E92 didn't have any torque so they give the next one plenty and then they just cant get it down on the road, but I would imagine the new one is miles better than the old one though as a daily driver. So for me I think I would prefer the new one rather than waiting until 6k revs for anything to happen like you have to in the old one.

Loved it to bits. When I see one in the street these days I find myself going back to classifieds to buy another one. Even my 991S didn't stir so much love in me.
Then I remember about the shi1tty DCT and poor automatic software which would categorically refuse to shift down on slowdowns despite all the software updates and I think maybe nostalgia is not a good thing. Manual would be wiser maybe?
That said really wanted to like the new one, but aside from the looks and cabin technology that engine does not inspire me. Sounds like a Hoover on videos whilst my V8 was just a perfect melody, from the outside even more so. Oh, I loved that engine. What a pearl.

I feel exactly the same.....I've driven and owned all sorts of cars and even cars such as the 997 and GTR have failed to captivate me like the e92 m3 doesThen I remember about the shi1tty DCT and poor automatic software which would categorically refuse to shift down on slowdowns despite all the software updates and I think maybe nostalgia is not a good thing. It just feels sublime to drive. .....I've just bought my 4th one and got the exhaust mod done .....love it!

Assume you had an early car and didn't get the DCT software updated? BMW's last software iteration was 2012 as I understand. I had my car engine and DCT software updated from 2008 to latest versions and it was transformed. I understand that even the mid year cars benefit. Then I remember about the shi1tty DCT and poor automatic software which would categorically refuse to shift down on slowdowns despite all the software updates and I think maybe nostalgia is not a good thing. I have run various cars and I have to say I just love my E92 m3. As above you also have to get the 'OEM exhaust mod' to really get the most from the car - buts it's only a £200-300 job.
Price of petrol is falling too!

The more negative press I read, the latest in this months Car,regarding the awful engine in the M4 the more I absolutely love mine!
Yes I ran the E92 manual with CP and no I would not want to go back. The M4 takes time to get to know but I think it is a hugely rewarding drive and with such a flat power curve I look forward to learning new a track approach to driving next spring. Ok some people won't ever like it or want one but to dismiss the technology out of hand is a mistake
