It certainly shows how much faster in a straight line it is over the E46 M3. I guess that just highlights the amount of development that goes on in 15 years.

I think that just shows how impressive the M4 is in that environment because the E46 driver was very good I thought yet it was easy for the M4, I think I would really like the M4 because I really enjoy straight line shove and I thought my E92 M3/Z4M lacked that a little.

Driven both and this vid totally bears out how much quicker the m4 felt , I thought the m4 was great .But it does seem to divide opinion. Its been getting a bit of a kicking of late on here, and in the press.Mind you seem to remember the e90 getting similar treatment when it first came out. Thanks for posting it .

Is it just me or does the rear end of the M4 look quite loose?

Makes me want an E46 M3 now.

I also think if you had twin turbos in E46 it would have left that M4 (my humble opinion)

Of course the driver has a lot to do with it in these situations but the e46 came out of that looking pretty good, didn't look like much progress has been made.

The rear end on that M4 is deeply offensive - ugly as hell. I like my E46 even more now! smile

^^^^^

I'm with you I think the E46 gives a very good account of itself, even if it was very well driven. The M4 doesn't do it for me looks wise, but I do find most BMW models grow on me, must admit at first I thought it was an Audi R5 and it does look huge, I am of course biased smile but the new mock ups of the M2 look very nice indeed though biggrin
