In the past, ive known Powerstations dyno to give quite happy flywheel figures due to incorrect transmission losses being entered.

What were the at the wheels figures? Flywheel is just pub talk.

Do it proper and put it on an engine dyno. Anything short of a SF-902S is pointless winkbiglaugh

You are aware how a maha dyno works? The operator does not input transmission losses, that is the beauty of a maha, no guess work.
The weakness of a maha dyno is wheel figures.

My car has being ran on both a Dyno-Dynamics and Maha dyno, the flywheel figure on both dyno's was within 10BHP of each other, but the wheel power was 60 horsepower apart, simply because of the two different dyno technologies.
Maha: 378BHP flywheel / 242BHP wheel
Dyno-Dynamics: 367BHP flywheel / 308BHP wheels
Same car, same mods with the remap. Without the map the maha was down 31BHP and the dyno dynamics was about 24BHP down. The map is worth good power on the S54! smile

People seem to be missing the point completely.

Forget the figures, dyno are used to compare modifications, what works, what does not work and it is the change in dyno plot and figures you looking for between modifications, so peak figures forget them, look for how the modifications changed the result. That is the purpose of a dyno.

If you want to know your true engine output, it needs to come out the car and go on an engine dyno.

Yes, im aware of the differences, but imho any dyno figure can be manipulated - run the car in a different gear/brake on the coast down, etc.

My question re: @wheels figure was to the OP as he ran on a DD RR.

I already explained, part of an RR day, the dyno has no link to Evolve or any interest. Car was run in same gear, same dyno settings. So the gain was very real on an independent dyno. smile

The wheels bhp to flywheel bhp assumptions aren't really relevant though, as long as you're using the same method each time before and after for comparison.

Unless you're suggesting that they're not using the same methods before and after and are fudging the numbers somehow... but they're a reputable company who've been in the business for 20 years so I think someone would have uncovered a scam by now if there was one.

Anywhoo back to real world testing, I'm looking to organise this stock vs remapped race after the new year, anyone got any tips for making it a controlled environment?

Also just to add, I tried to make it as fair a test as possible - both S5, P500S, MDM mode, in third gear, Vpower, I had about 10-15L less fuel because I weigh a bit more.

Road was arrow straight so no bends either.

interesting to note that there wasn't much difference up to 150 or so and then when you shifted into 6th the difference grew and grew.

I presume the rpm spikes in 3rd were wheel spin?

3 degrees, 180mph and in the rain. Props Sir.

You could be jailed for that in England and stoned and told off by people in Birkenstock slippers etc.

Just goes to show how capable and Ffffing fast these cars are and still are even in current money.

PM me the DMS price? Seen any difference in economy fuel wise on a normal run?
