Discounts on new M3/M4?

I have been offered around 16% discount on a £61.5K spec M4 which brings it down to around £51.5k. This is a PCP deal, the GMFV is £28.6K based on 3 years 10k miles. Where do you guys see the prices in around 3 years time? do you guys think a £28.6k GMFV is very conservative?

The dilemma I have is I can lease the same spec'd car for £26k over 3 years, for the PCP deal the cost is roughly £28k for 3 years. So the lease seems to be the best deal based on a £28.6k GMFV.

Which deal would you go for?

Thanks

Given the cheapest 3 year old car is over 40k I think the answer is pretty clear.with a lease you know it's going to cost X and you may just want to keep the car.

The oldest cars are only 2 years old though, and surely all the discounts are going to drive the prices down?

Depends on the market and what price it's willing to pay, the e92 m3 was heavily discounted but residuals are still quite good, last of the N/a you see, well this one will probably be last of the RWD M3s.

One thing is for sure you'll lose money, I wouldn't get one if that's going to spoil the experience.

Semantics, but a 14 reg is 3 yrs in my book. And 42k vs GFV of 28...

Yep,Mass produced car losses cash shocker hehe

I think for circa 50k it's an attractive proposition.

Sorry but how is a 14-reg car 3 years old?!

Err, you were the one who picked-up on this and talked about semantics? Got to say your idea of age is different from mine if you consider a 16-reg to be a year old; second-hand yes but at less than 3 months maximum not a year old by my reckoning!

Just been into Williams in Stockport and they only offered ~8% off a new competition model. Pretty poor compared to others on this thread.

They were claiming that the market has changed and the big discounts are gone now that the quotas are easily being taken out to September.

Anybody hearing that discounts are down or is it just wrong time wrong place with this dealer?

This is exactly what I've heard. My car took less than 8 weeks from order to delivery, my dealer now quoting October.

+1 think all the talk of discounts on various forums has created decent demand

Instead I think BMW UK have reacted to the difficulty dealers have had with shifting new F8x M3/4, unless giving massive discounts, by cutting back production and leaning on dealers to ease off on discounting.
On GFV I think a trade value of somewhere around £32K for a 3 year old car seems reasonable.

Be interesting to see if they come back again by end of 3rd quarter.......which will be about the time I'll be looking to order one.....if my current head vs. heart battle regarding choice of next car goes the way of the heart instead of the head laugh

End of quarter on target Dealer volume bonus applies to new cars that are registered in that quarter.
So you will likely need to find a new car in stock to buy (or that a dealer has the V5 for) near the end of quarter to get a decent discount.
A dealer will not be offering big discounts just because you are ordering one near end of quarter especially if build slots are going to be harder to find.

Wasn't my thinking, more from point of view, of what they might have 'to play with' before the end of the year in terms of slots to fill or not as the case maybe in the last quarter, rather than something available at the end of the 3rd quarter.

I've just ordered a M3 CP. I got 15% off after a lot of negotiating. It's a July build so MY17 for September delivery. Happy to pass on the dealers details if anyone wants to contact me.

Last week. The dealer has cars available earlier but I wanted a MY17, it only has minor changes but it all ties together nicely for September reg.
