Any advice on dealers with either with M3s in stock or happy to do a deal on a new car? A lot of the recent comments are on M4s, and I see that a few dealers are switching over to M4 Convertibles as their demonstrators ready for the summer, but I really need an M3 for the rear doors (kids).

My ideal spec is quite long:

DCT
Grey
Black wheels
Black extended leather
CF interior
Parking pack
safety pack (forget name)
Adaptive xenon lights + high beam
heated steering wheel
sun protection glass
rear side blinds
armrest
speed limit display
storage
internet
online entertainment

Really not sure about those last 2, just ticking the boxes because they're cheap and not sure how handy they'll be in reality. My wife was really keen on the safety bits, so I've dropped comfort access and added those instead.

Any comments on those or the rest of the spec?

If I go new it will be my first new car for over 10 years, and first BMW full stop.
I wouldn't bother the internet but the online entertainment is good.
I would certainly spec the HUD, it's awesome!

Online Entertainment means you can stream Spotify or other services like it I believe.

My dealer counselled against both Internet and Online Entertainment - he didn't think they would be as useful as you might think...a decent ‘phone will outperform the system he thought.
Neither would be on my wish list if shopping for a second hand M3 in a few years time.

Specced internet on my Alpina when I bought it - used once in 3 years, not worth it.

Is it the internet that allows you to google search within the vicinity on the sat nav? I find that useful occasionally.

The interface for Online Entertainment is slightly better than the equivalent app on your iPhone if you have one. The current provider is Napster which I think is the only provider for which the app will allow you to search the online catalog. But the apps are improving all the time, so if you have an iPhone (and use Napster if online search is important to you) I'd not bother.

Internet is rubbish and mind numbingly slow.

Just use your phone, miles quicker, internet is useless.

No that's included in Pro Nav or Connected Drive. Internet gives you a web-browser in the dash. I also had it on my last BMW and never used it other than to see what it did. Pointless option if you have a Smartphone (& who doesn't?)

As i said, I've occasionally found it useful in the circumstances described.....by the time I've retrieved phone from pocket, handed it to mrs (I'm busy driving and seeking not to be distracted), she has figured out how to work it, filtered out all the dross on Google, then input postcode into car sat nav...as opposed to just google searching locations in the car and adding the result to the sat nav. Unless we are talking about just generally browsing the Internet in car in which case I would agree phone easier and better.

I asked my local dealer about this today and he said the facelift only applied to the regular 3 series, not the M models. He told me they are built in different factories and share very little. He had absolutely no knowledge of any M3/M4 facelift and didn't expect one for a year or so yet given how recently they came out (compared to the latest 3 series being out a few years already).

Anyone else heard different?
Yes - your dealer doesn't know what he's on about!

The M3 will receive an LCI update from July build onwards; lots of info on what’s included via an internet search of ‘F80 M3 LCI’, but some headlines are comfort access as standard, revised SatNav (new thinner and wider screen) and new rear LED lights…

I’d find another dealer!
Still don't know who to believe - all the dealers so far are being consistent and saying its not on their systems and likely to be next year, also some posters above are saying similar, but I've seen the internet links and there are plenty of spy shots.

Sorry, my mistake, I had HUD on the list already but forgot to write it. I've since dropped Internet on the basis that nobody is rating it, and I only added it "just in case"

I find quite often the dealers are not as up to speed as enthusiasts online.... it is the way the corporate machine creaks.

Well, the deal is done and the car is ordered from my local dealer after he came up trumps. He wasn't the cheapest in the end, but for a small difference I'm happy to give him my business as I always said I wouldn't be quibbling below a certain threshold. He did provide the test drive after all, and it all helps with the relationship.

I didn't quite manage the saving that some others have quoted, but it's more than I would have got without the intel from this thread. Very importantly for me I secured a build slot for the second week of July so I'm a happy chappy on that front.

I also had great service from James at BMW Chesterfield, so if you are reading this and looking for a quote I wouldn't hesitate to point you in his direction.

Now... anyone want to buy my old RS6?.... wink

Oh, and lastly of course, a big thanks to those that provided help on this thread - as someone without much experience of BMWs it was extremely valuable. thumbup

Congrats - pictures required in due course.

I saw the trailer for the new Mission Impossible film last night and looks like the M3 is featured in the film - not sure you'll be wanting to drive your new car in the same way though !!

Would you be willing to share the kind of discount you managed to achieve? I'm test driving an M4 on Saturday and want to be prepared for the numbers conversation which will follow. The info from this thread is great, although more recent results are always helpful.

I'm also debating whether to go for the M3 or M4, I prefer the looks of the M4 but if dealers are keener to shift M3s it would be interesting to know!

Congratulations. It would seem that the LCI F80 M3 2016 model year specification Week of Production begins 15-July-2015 so you will be getting LED rear lights, Harmann Kardon & Comfort Access for free - also a better Sat-Nav screen, larger and thinner.

I have been hesitating to order a F80 M3 and was well aware of the LCI just round the corner. I managed to get to 9% with no major issues at all but I am waiting (possibly in vain) for a much better deal than that.
