Just test drove an M4, Wow!!
The noise was incredible compared to my M135!
Made me realise I need one ASAP!

Didn't do too well negotiating a discount though.
Was offered no discount, "we don't discount M cars" I was told.

Told them I was offered 12% discount else where.
They said email it through and we'll try and match it.
I'll do that 2mora but after reading people getting 15-18% else where I want at least that.
Now I know I want one I'll ring around in the week to see if I can secure at least 15%!

Highly interested in buying an M4 if discounts of near 20% are being offered.

Just speced a car to £60k. So if I can get. Almost £11k off I'd be interested in ordering.

Given 5% is published on the BMW UK site (2,654), any dealer that flippantly threw out that sort of 'we don't discount M cars' BS would not get my business.

Yeah some of the BS I was being fed was ridiculous.

"we only get a certain allocation of M cars every month so we don't want to just give them away"
So if you sell your allocation in the first week you turn people away for the rest of the month!? yeah right!

It's a shame because the sales guy I was dealing with was a genuinely nice bloke.
All was going well until the sales manager come over to talk numbers!

I wouldn't waste my/their time by doing all the chatting THEN ask about pricing. I'd politely say i know plenty about the car and i'm interested if they can deal at X% which several dealers have managed-name them if you can. I'm happy to stay local if we can do a deal. Just be professional and not cocky and I see nothing wrong with that. It's not like it's a rare car and you snooze you lose. In fact as a previous poster mentioned-have your card with you and tell them you'll do a deal right there.

A while back it was 10-12, someone managed 15 then someone managed 18. Now posters are saying they want 20%. I think a lot of you will be waiting a long time and be very disappointed.

I don't think I'm going to be disappointed.
If I can get 15-18% off then I'll order.
If it's not this quarter it will be next, no rush!

Wasn't suggesting you would be disappointed-general comment smile

Vardy seems to be at the forefront of making deals- i'd start with them

I tried vardy but they refused to discount the options, the offer on their website is the best they will do.
I have a lot of phoning round to do this week smile

I tried to achieve 12% discount in March at eastern M power Edunburgh and was refused. They knew I was serious as I offered a deposit there and then.

15/18% is something I could not get anywhere, and I phoned most dealers nationwide with cash in hand.

I got 10% off a factory order and was happy enough with that. The M3/4 is a desirable car and BMW knows it. I tried 4 local ish dealers completely ready to move and none of them wanted to go as far as 15%, so I just decided life was too short and went with the local guy. Would probably end up never ordering one if I just chased bigger and bigger discounts!

This was exactly my experience today. You may be able to get more than 12% but on a in stock car or if you've been luck and they needs to hit targets.

I managed to get 14% on a car they thought they could get but the other dealer wouldn't play ball, I'd signed the order so now a factory order. In my case it was a combination of needing September registrations to hit huge targets, although it won't be here till October now, and also prising my custom from another BMW dealer where I'd bought several cars. It took a bit of haggling but they knew I was serious so we got there in the end.

As I am sure most know, Broadspeed offer 8% so that is really your starting point. BMW UK offer 5%. In my opinion the 18% discussed is in the Unicorn camp. As the poster said. It was a one off. He must have used the Little Britain 'look into my eyes' trick.

100% this. If you want a car and dont want to spend weeks trying to 'save' a couple of grand then 10% seems very fair to me.

it took me 1 day, 3 local dealerships visited and 2 other phone calls, so well worth it in my opinion.

Cooper, Durham, Teesside and Sunderland, Stratstone Tyneside and Lloyd Newcastle. I also referenced the Peter Vardy deal that I understand from recent posts may now have been reduced. As previous posts made it clear I was happy to leave deposit if the deal was right.

I got the initial rebuttal we don't discount, but I said yes you do and after that it was chipping away till i got where I wanted. It was on the basis I would take delivery in September but in the event they couldn't secure the car we had shaken hands on so its gone to a factory order.

I had a good try locally (4 dealers in the East of England) for a deal on a new factory order, but anything over 10% seemed totally out of the question.

I eventually found a pre-reg car that was registered 3 weeks before I picked it up and had sat in the show room since new. 6 miles on the clock when I drove it away and in the exact spec I wanted. Shakir Orange, dark wheels, head up display, DCT, HK noise, LED lights, full leather, service pack etc etc. I got 11.5% off the list price and am very happy with that. I may have been able to get a bigger discount if I wanted finance, but I bought it outright. It's a fantastic car. Could even say it's a bit too fast for the road! biggrin

Had the wheels diamond cut and repainted with a clear lacquer rather than the standard tinted stuff. Think it looks ace. smile
