If anyone wants me to put them in touch with a very reasonable read (ready to do an amazing deal) salesman at a dealership please PM me.
Got my M6 GC through him recently, and I know everyone offers serious discounts on my car, but my chap's deal was by far the best, and my day job is negotiating

I don't know what the dealer margin is on a new M3/4 but if you can get £10K discount on a new one then the probability is high that this amount is coming out of the dealers profit...
They don't have 10k clear margin in an M3/4 the discount comes from BMWFS, BMW and the dealer margin + there are other factors like bonnet bonus etc..and rebate incentives that the dealer might have access to, Who has managed 10k off a factory order? The best I've seen is just over 7K Edited by Wills2 on Thursday 11th February 09:28

which dealer?
Berry ChiswickBut I dealt with Tony Lewis (sales manager) who no longer works there
A lot of people know him from the Baby BMW forum as TRL
I'd say you are better off finding where he is and contacting him rather than Berry Chiswick.
Someone told me he had gone to Croydon but not 100% on that.
Morning All,
Currently taking tentative steps to upgrade my M135i to M3. I "think" I would prefer a lease as I dont want to commit to more than 36 months, the BMW finance seems to favour 48 months massively.
I have put a call into my local dealer to see what they can do and seen this deal on the M4 but nothing on M3 yet. http://www.freedomcontracts.com/BMW-M4-Coupe-3.0-D...
Anyone have any ideas on lease? Seen anything? PLease keep an eye out for me

I got just over £12K discount on a factory order for my M3 in August - £67K list and paid £55K
...and now worth £45k... I really do like the F80 M3 & the M4 to a lesser extent - but I am just re-acclimatising myself to the huge losses you experience if you feel the need to move on out of the car after a short period of time if you buy new.
To add extra pain, I would like an individual colour car which makes getting the discount driven down even harder.
TDK - this is not a dig at your car choice, not at all, just having trod the BMW M car route before I think it is important to be aware how these things shed cash. You have taken some sting out of it by the nice discount and good for you.
As I tried to allude to earlier..this sort of uncontrolled discounting is not always a good thing. Imagine you were chipper to have got £5k off a new M4 and then find out someone else got £12K - you are not going to be impressed with your dealer at all.
Back in the day to hit target we used to offer new VW Polos at cost price to us when necessary to hit end of month/quarter volume bonus targets. Even if you let customers see the invoice from VW showing the price was indeed what we paid for the car they still didn't believe the dealership wasn't still making shed loads of money from the sale.

Agreed. It is almost like buying double glazing. You never know if you got a good price. Agreed, most expensive performance cars do lose large chunks of cash, especially in the early days of ownership, but I'm well aware of that. I'm planning to keep the car for 4 years and pushed hard to get the biggest discount I could to try and offset some of the longer term losses, but still expect to lose money over the term. For me it's a matter of weighing up the overall cost vs the enjoyment of ownership and the driving experience - so far I'm happy with my choice of the F80 M3 and the price I paid.I really do like the F80 M3 & the M4 to a lesser extent - but I am just re-acclimatising myself to the huge losses you experience if you feel the need to move on out of the car after a short period of time if you buy new.

Obviously if you buy an expensive car and move it on in a short time you're only going to maximise your losses, unless of course you're buying a limited production or highly sought after car. I've certainly been there and done that over the years!
BTW - my M3 is an individual colour and that had no bearing on being able to negotiate a discount, I was just clear that I wanted a factory order to my exact spec.

Excellent News. Trouble is I want a colour that is not on the Individual Palette. So I guess I am shafted if I want a great deal.Absolutely agree with your Total Cost of Ownership view over 4 years. The M3 is certainly capable of 'ticking most boxes' of when it comes to a cars all round capabilities for a long term perspective.
Enjoy your car
