Discounts on new M3/M4?

I think the price shown is for a DCT, a manual would be £57K ish

That's exactly right, the "On the Road" price eludes to it being the DCT.

Hi all,

Long time lurker first time poster.
Just wondered when you guys thought we'd start seeing the kind of discounts on the current M3/M4 that they offered on previous models?
I know in the past BMW have given 15-18K off depending on spec but at the minute the most they are offering is 3-4K.
That would be too rich for me, I'd need around 15% discount and an APR of 4.9% max.
Any chance of that happening this year do you think?

Possibly late end of the year.

I reckon they'll start offering 4.9% APR in Q2, probably April.

Then I think they'll start offering bigger BMW contributions around mid September.

Two things to remember is that next year the M2 is out and it's going to be tricky for them to price it right so it doesn't undercut M4 sales. The other thing is the Competition Pack which will probably be out end of this year, going by previous trends.

Yeah I know what you mean about the M2.
At the moment though it's cheaper to buy an M5 than it is to buy an M3.
Hoping we have a similar situation with the M4 and M2!

If the M2 was out now I'd probably be looking at getting one instead of an M4. Depends on the engine though, but on looks alone I think it'll be way better.

Well hopefully we wont have to wait much longer before we find out.
I think they are unveiling it in March.

I think I'd go for the M3 over the M4.
It's strange because every picture I see I think the M4 is better looking but the M3 looks stunning in the flesh.

I've been offered £6k off a pre-reg M4 at a dealer.

If BMW are giving 10% discounts 6-7 months after launch then maybe by Q3 they will be nearer to what I need.

There's an ex-demo M4 with only ~800 miles at ~£11k off the list of £70k that I've seen at a main dealer. To be fair the bulk of the options list cost (£12k odd) is from the ceramic brakes, but still. Prices are dropping now, safe to say they won't be going up again!

The problem even with the pre-reg cars, ex-demos etc. they aren't selling even at 48-49k. If you look the same cars have been for sale for quite some time. Obviously demand and price are yet to meet!

I think the issue with the ex-demo's I've found is the lack of finance offers. I was looking at an ex-demo M4 that had £8K off list price, registered in Nov with 1100 miles on the clock. When it come down to the finance though the APR is just far too high, even going through a broker the best I could get was 7.9%.

I ended up ordering a new car this week for delivery in March, for much cheaper than an ex-demo.

The ex-demo prices are fine if you are buying with cash, but I'm not lucky enough to have £50K lying around!

The dealer said they'd match the 6.4% on the pre-reg to sweeten the deal. Still, not that brilliant. I walked away because I don't need ceramic brakes and didn't like the interior (SO).

It's a 64 plate registered in December. I couldn't find any comparative cars to compare against but I thought it was 'reasonably' priced given the crap discounts available. The problem is I don't need £11k in extras, if they had a stock ex-demo car with no extras and this was reflected in the price I'd probably have bought it.

That's what I don't understand.
I can't imagine many people walking in with £50K cash so I'd assume most people use finance.
10.9% APR means a 50K used car will cost almost as much as a brand new one!

Congrats on your order, what sort of discount did you get if you don't mind me asking?

I think a lot of people don't realise that a used car at £50k can easily be had for £45k, or less.

Take this car for example:

It's on at £54k, I just entered the reg and mileage on WBAC, they quoted £39,540.... So that's the trade price. If a dealer bought it at £40k they could flog it a month later for £45k and be quids in.
