Nice discount.

Did they do you pre-reg on new or used APR's? 4.9% or 7.x%?

Unless you paid cash !

20%! Well-jel smile

New to Bimmers, only looking in the first place because I was given a old 328 SE. I love the straight six, so as it is a bit leggy, I went to look at a discounted 340i M Sport. Lovely car, but dealer wouldn't accept my offer and I just wasn't excited enough about it. Now looking at M3's.....(something about 4 Series rear end (too wide) that doesn't work for me.) Anyway went out in an M4 as that is all the dealer had. While I loved the seating postion and comfort, I found the cabin quite noisy, so much so the Harmon Kardon stereo was deleted off my prospective options list as you needed it so loud to hear it, i switched it off! Also too much induction noise and not enough from the rear. (£4k for a Sports exhaust is bonkers.) The M3 is competing with a used 911 (991). I prefer a new car, but i don't think an £90k 911, will lose anywhere near a discounted new M3 over 3 years. Aside that, i'm enjoying the journey.

Yesterday was end of quarter and end of year.
Today's deals are very unlikely to be the same...

Link below refers. The chap in question (Tony Lewis) seems to be a benchmark for good deals on BMW's (all models, not just M-cars) and a lot of people on F30 Post jumped on board with the Competition Pack deals he was offering on the M3 and M4. However, I think he had a limited allocation at that price and it looks like they've all gone; sure he'll still be able to do good deals but if those CP offers reflected any additional support due to the fact March was BMW's quarter and year-end he may not be quite able to replicate those in the short-term...

Whilst these discounts are great, they are going to prove very costly in the long term . The depreciation curve is going to be very steep and painful unless you rely on the gfv a pcp offers. Take it from someone who has just sold a 16 month old m4!

Genuine question : why would discounts affect the shape or steepness of the curve - you sell for less but then again you've bought for proportionality less too.

Obviously it's painful if you didn't buy at the max discount but if you have, you have a competitive advantage against others. It's neutral at worst I would have thought ?

Could you elaborate? I would be surprised if a cash buyer lost anything like the amount paid out by a PCP customer.

The real problem selling is 2 fold. Very few dealers were even interested in bidding as the car has has some pretty negative press and there are lots for sale at dealers ( who as we know are discounting heavily to shift stock) and then there is the low offers form the dealers who are prepared to bid. I had a well spec'ed m4 convertible which taking into consideration the discount I got ( 6%), lost close to 30k in 16 months. Still that's new cars I suppose! Enjoy the cars and don't think about the money

Ouch!

Can I ask given the bids you'd received why you didn't elect to run it for longer smoothing out he depreciation from c£1.9k PCM to something more acceptable for a £60k car.
