The real problem selling is 2 fold. Very few dealers were even interested in bidding as the car has has some pretty negative press and there are lots for sale at dealers ( who as we know are discounting heavily to shift stock) and then there is the low offers form the dealers who are prepared to bid. I had a well spec'ed m4 convertible which taking into consideration the discount I got ( 6%), lost close to 30k in 16 months. Still that's new cars I suppose! Enjoy the cars and don't think about the money
Ouch. So mid 30s bids then. Hmm. Did you try selling privately?

I wonder how the comp pack will fair given the good reviews it's had.

that seems very low indeed - I was quoted around 29K trade in for my 13 plate E92 the other week.

Thanks for the information. Don't wish to be rude but I think you took the pain when you bought rather than when you sold.

I'm in discussions on a new m4 CP- looking at 18% discount so circa 55k very highly specced. Selling at 43k wouldn't be too bad.

I don't know why but E92 M3's are holding good money at the moment.

BMW cut production back due to the financial crisis, so there are less cars to go around.
For instance there were 1/3 more M3s built in 2008 than in 2009 and 2010 put together.

Plus last of the N/A.
Also maybe there is a ceiling on what used market will accept for an M3 ?

I saw one car on the BMW AUC site for £39K and change...it sold within two weeks!
If anything prices seem to be creeping up for late low miles cars with the right spec and colour.

I am watching prices currently and the only car available below £40k is a CAT-D and that's still £39995.

Although, when i ran the M3 I was looking at through GoCompare for insurance purposes, the estimated value was £5k below anything I'd seen on the classifieds / Autotrader.

I was referring to E92 M3s.

I almost did a deal on a new M4 Comp Pack Cab today....£71k list, was able to get it down to £57k redface Utterly insane, and really bad news for resale for anyone who's bought one over the last couple of years. As a percentage, that's more than I achieved when I bought my M6 back in 2013 and I thought that was a crazy amount of discount.

But I didn't do it. I've had an F80 M3 before (collected it on the day it launched a couple of years ago) but I sold it after 6 weeks because I detested the sound.

We actually went into BMW this weekend to buy an X6 M (you know, a proper M car....lol wink ) to replace the RS4 which the mrs has moaned at me about since I bought it 3 months ago (it's technically her car and I love it, she reckons an estate doesn't fit her 'image'. Pah!). Anyway, she's been harping on about getting a tent (sorry, cabriolet) for years now so I thought we'd give the M4 another go, just incase things have improved in the last two years. The dealer loaned me their demo last night which had the BMW sports exhaust retrofitted (which I understand is exactly the same as being fitted to the Comp Pack), and bloody hell.....it's worse! I do think the rest of the car is superb by the way (it looks great), and there's clearly been chassis improvements since the early cars but the person who's responsible for sound at BMW M needs to be fired.

In the end I bought an X6 M50d, a bit sensible but I reckon even this car, a truck powered by the devils fuel, sounds notably better than the M4 did!

Anyway, we're back in an M car (albeit fake one) when it arrives in June smile

Palm. Surely you've had a test of the C63. As a merc man why not? Great sound, lots of power, solid build quality.

the sports exhaust on the comp pack is not the same as the MPE

I heard an m4 start at my local bmw dealer last week and it sounded a lot better than my old car . All these discounts are great news for new buyers but please don't get carried away in the "deal" and forget what you are actually buying . I've never been so disappointed in a new car ever before and as I've said previously it was an expensive mistake . Test drive one for a long time and make sure it's the right car for you .Whereas I can't stop looking at my new car and wake up wanting to go for a drive , I never felt like that about the m4 which is sad as I've had 4 m3's in the past which were great

The demo didn't have the MPE (I could visually see that) - the dealer reckon they have retrofitted the sports exhaust. Awful, truly horrific.

Love the C63; it's a great car....about 95% of the dynamic ability of the M3, better build, better NHV and proper sound. Coupe/saloon, no brainer.

But neither of us like the looks of the new C-class cab, and we were looking at either an SUV or cab (as you do....but that's what she wants!). I couldn't even buy a Merc SUV as they seemingly can't make a diesel with >300bhp. It's bad enough going for the devils fuel without having something that won't move! So, back to BMW it is.

So, you've owned an M4 and hated it. And you now have a new R8. Mmm, I know someone just the same.......byebye

Honestly chaps, I typically love my M-cars as much as the next petrolhead (I like lot's of cars....it's my weakness and will probably be the end of me one day!). But, I just can't understand 1. how BMW launched a car that sounds like that thinking it was OK to do so and 2. how anyone can listen to it and truly, honestly say that it sounds good.

I know sound is objective (luckily for BMW) and I'm sorry to those who have bought one and like it (you have an otherwise decent car) but I'm pissed off with BMW as their engineering blunder means I just can't enjoy their latest M car!
