I had an e60m5 and moved down to 2012 135i with a mild tune.

Much happier.

The m5 was a special car but other than that it was a pain in the ass. The fuel tank and gas mileage drove me crazy and the car really only shined over 100 mph...

135 is plain fun to drive, much cheaper and does twice the mpg. I love the dct. I don't think its much slower under 100. After 100 the m5 was much stronger.

I do miss the heated seats though. smile

Are the Cats covered under the 90/month warranty? On the M6 these were 5k+ from a BMW dealer.
Yes they are

What could possibly cost you £6k out of warranty?

Brake discs & pads all round = £1,200
Tyres all round = £900
Spark plugs & oil = £800

After that you'd be good for a long time, I'm pretty sure changing cars is gonna cost more in dealer spread and depreciation.
Add a clutch and throttle actuators to that and you're easily up at the £6k mark!

Throttle actuators are surely a warranty claim?

What is the sign they are on their way out?

They are warranty eligible so long as you have a warranty smile

I had mine done and the only warning was an engine warning light. Took it to the dealer straight away and saw no symptoms.

You can get the clutch and fly wheel all done for £1500 from a good indy.

He'll have been to a marque "specialist" and the impending £6k bill will be for an engine rebuild or something along those lines.

Just look at all of the Porsches that have rebuilds before they are due, "just in case"laugh

The cheapest car is the car you have. Until it needs a clutch!

What's happened to the OP?

So if I understand him correctly, he now owns the car outright but wants to sell as he has a £6k bill looming????

Where on earth has this figure come from and why does he now want to sell after owning the car outright??
