Hello.

Had my rear tyres replaced yesterday and after about 10 miles of driving from the Garage and DSC, Handbrake, Tyre pressure and Gearbox warning lights come on? see picture below.

Spoke to the guy who fitted the tyres and he said he didn't reset the tyre pressure system with the button, checked all the pressures and they seem consistent (would be interested to know what other people set theirs too).

Have read a few bits on Forums but none seem to suggest all of these lights come on.

Only had the car a couple of weeks so its still under warranty from the dealer so will most likely end up back there anyway.

Surely the first step is to check the tyre pressures and then reset the TPMS?

It's possible one of the ABS sensors has been disconnected when changing the wheels, this would cause those sorts of errors. Get the cars codes read, that will tell you.

Did that last night, just reading in the handbook about changing tyres and needing to reset the SMG Drivelogic...

will give that a go this morning.

Could fitting the wheels on the other side of the car have an issue?

The sensors are pretty well protected from any damage when changing wheels. I would guess the change in rolling diameter between worn and new tyres plus perhaps a change in tyres is the cause.

How would I get it cleared if it is just the change of tyre diameter?

Have you carried out the steps in the manual?

Electronics on modern cars are a nightmare, have you asked on M3 Cutters ?

Make sure that the tyres are the correct size.

The difference in tread can upset things, but the reset for the type pressure monitoring should be able to be done without any special kit.
It should be in the manual, or maybe youtube videos.

1. Reset tyre pressures monitoring system.

2. If no work, diagnose fault, maybe fitter has damaged rdc valve-depending on age of car.

This may help: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=9661...

Thanks Everyone.

Problem seems have gone away after dropping some air out of the tyres, fitter had put about 10psi too much in, this place has been fitting my tyres for years and never had an issue. Also had the tracking done as the diag computer was showing a Steering angle error, after 15 mins of driving all the lights went out!

Apologies if I sound like a bit of an amateur, first time I have owned a car quite this complicated!

Is the steering wheel still centered when driving straight ahead?

It is now, defo wasn't when I picked it up after having the new tyres fitted, I'm starting to wonder what actually happened after I dropped it off...

I suspect you have a failing rear trailing arm bush. It would cause a rear wheel to go out of alignment and physically skew the steering. This in turn causes the warnings because for one thing the steering angle is detected as being in conflict with lateral acceleration.

Mine has done EXACTLY the same, changed a tyre on Thursday. What PSI did you drop to?

I ended up dropping it to what's written on the inside of the drivers door, turned out the place that fitted them, their pressure gauge on the pump was well out so they were massively over inflated

Glad you got it sorted.

Just while on subject of pressures, what's the most accurate way of testing? I have a digital gauge but am unsure how accurate these things are? Thankfully I don't have a garage of flashing lights to worry about though. smile
