Expect mid teens MPG round town - 25 on the motorway if you're babying it.

Boot floors crack - make sure it's been done or less than 10 years from build date so you can get BMW do it under goodwill.

Servicing isn't too expensive but yes all the parts have the M tax on them.

I also bought 'high mileage' (120k+) but have had no issues. I suggest getting rid of the clutch delay valve it drove me mad when I first got the M3.

HK stereo is awful and so is the 15 year old sat nav. Other than that great cars.
That doesn't sound right. I can get 25 mpg in its bigger brother without babying it.

OP, I'm in a very similar position to yourself.

Having owned two 330cis (and paying a lot for one of them), I always regretted not going the whole hog and buying an M3.

I now have the M3 and it's definitely a keeper. Like yourself, I have a van for work, so I put maybe 4000 miles on it a year. Lighter running costs to some, but so nice to have.

Also, Michelin Pilot Sports all round came in at about £700 from Tyreleader.co.uk.

the main thing with running cost is you have to put super unleaded in thats where the real price difference comes the mpg is good on them mine does 24 mpg around town between 30-40 mpg motorway
also your oil you cant put crap in it so that can cost but buy it when offers are on then its not bad
when something goes wrong you will get the m tax but when its not you will have the biggest smile on the planet
if your worried about cost stay away because you will never enjoy it and it will cost to run which you will come to hate it because it cost money and its a car not to hate but enjoy get one as weekend car buy normal oil burner for the miles then you will love having one

Mid 30's easily achievable on M-Way, I had >40 once.
