What do you think guys, only 185 left, only M estate car made, last of the aspirated engines.

What does the future hold?

Depreciation bomb? or future classic?

The problem I see is that they're fast gaining a reputation for big bills (not sure if that's justified?), so when they fall out of warranty the values are going to drop fast. Could take years for them to then recover

Look at E34s, they're only beginning to appreciate after two decades, and personally I think they have more to distinguish them as a "classic" than the E60/61s

The only RHD M estate made btw

Undoubtedly, a future classic.
Relatively rare, and the good ones are getting rarer.
I think the well looked after ones will hold their price, and to me, the estate is so much more interesting than the saloon.

Deprecation Bomb, and ive bought and sold twice, love hate relationship with mine, ultimately though much as i loved mine it had to go (again). the maintenance this year alone came in at around £5k, which a lot of them will be needing as they approach 60-80k miles. ultimately what became really boring was the terrible mpg. ive got deep pockets believe me when it comes to cars but just didn't think it was worth it as 98% of the time it was being used as a family estate which didn't justify the 5% of 90+mph performance. i reckon it will be a long way off classic status if at all. great car but soon to be a £12-£16k motor which is great as a weekend car,

Hmmm I dunno, how many estate cars have ever become classics?
Usually it's the lighter, more focused versions which become classics, not family wagons. However rarity could work in the E61 M5's favour though.

Big bills are usually blown way out of proportion. Yes it costs more to run than a vanilla 5 series but compared to cars of similar performance it's pretty good. Also indys are much cheaper...

Hmmm, sorry Ant, I'm not sure our beats will become "classics" any time soon.

They may well do in say 20/30 years as I doubt we'll be seeing the same sort of engine layout as the E60 M5's. It will all be 2 cylinder forced induction engines then, running on English rain water and cow manure.

Are you still enjoying yours?

By the way Metsta, what were your 5K costs made up of please, just out of curiosity?
