Do what you want it's your car I see it as a shrewd move a bit more noise for a lot less money(Eisenmann system £1995.00) than buying an exhaust system, the money saved can go in the tank so you can go & make noise down your favourite bit of road & with the extra £1800 yo could add a Re Map put some poly bushes on it K&N Element filters & have one very fast M5 that lot should net you around an extra 45bhp 30ft/lb torque with a great induction roar to back up the exhaust mod.
True, true, each to their own as i see it. Took her for a spin last night, each time I drive it now, I find I have the rear windows cracked down just a little to hear the V10 at it's best!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but have recently acquired an E60 M5 and the exhaust needs to be a bit more vocal.

What is the volume difference between 2 and 4 pipe mod?
Also does putting the packing material back in what helps reduce drone as it seems to me those who do the 2 pipe mod but dont put packing back in get drone and those who put packing material in are drone free.

People with 2 and 4 pipe mods still happy, I want more noise but I don't want it droning and booming in the cabin and I also do not wish to spend 2k for a catback when £200 will get me 90% of the same result.

To be honest, they all drone. Just depends on your tolerance.

The 2 pipe mod is a cheap and effective solution for increasing the noise level but it sounds a bit flat at lower revs and loses the growl of the stock exhaust at ~3k rpm. Sounds great at full chat though.

I have a H&S on mine at the moment and it does a good job of replicating the character of the stock exhaust with a few more dBs but it does increase the NVH in the cabin under normal driving.

Can recommend Haywood & Scott - lovely deep sound but not too much, think oem++ with feeling!

Good price as well

Check out their we site and there’s some good vids on YouTube

Just break out the tig and make your own. Most of the mass made stuff sounds crap barring the A/C factory system . The one we made for the m6 sounds spot on.
