Hello all

I've got the 20 inch wheels on today and had to go off in search of some light to get a picture! (wheels put on in the bloody dark!!)
BP garage was the only option

Im afraid it's a phone picture but you get the idea - have to say I am very happy with the result - still not sure if it needs to be lowered slightly or not. Will wait and see.

I went for BBS LMs in 9 x 20 at the front with 255/35/20 tyres and 10.5 x 20 rear with 285/30/20 - Toyo Proxys all round - very sticky!

The new wheels didnt need spacers at the rear as the offset is a bit more aggressive (ET 20) but the fronts have the 10mm spacer on to fill the arches

Hope you like the pics - I will get some better ones with the SLR next week

Cheers!

Simon

Looks good. From those photos, I reckon it would look good lowered at the front slightly.

I'm probably going to drop mine a little at the front once I've fitted the spacers.

Thanks Sadface, thanks and appreciate the valued comments on ownership.

Yep, I almost let the few horror stories put me off but I am glad I decided to get one!
The car just keeps cementing its reputation as being epic! Still, I put a fully comp Mondial warranty on it for peace of mind and so far its not missed a beat and I've done roughly around 1200 miles so far.

I recently added my first mod, high gloss black kidney grilles I picked up form Cotswold BMW. I've kept the chrome ones but I really like the new ones on! Funnily enough, I've thought about a Supersprint exhaust. Think I prefer it to the Eisenmann.
I think the racing one but resonated. Still need to do some research as I want one with no drone, OEM when cruising and then all hell breaking loose when you want a bit of fun! biggrin

That number plate sounds good too!

Let me know if you find an exhaust that does this smile
At a reasonable price...

Haha! It seems when the sun comes out people want to play! I'm not fussed most of the times but as it was nice and sunny... be rude not to myself! biggrin

Over the last two weekends I've had a 996 C4S and a 997 C4S plus an Audi S5 cab on a 13 plate ( assume its the 3lt V6 supercharged one?) ready to just a little fun! Only when you have a play against performance cars of this calibre do you realise how blooming fast this thing is!

Hmm maybe this one?

Early days yet but it does sound like a good price at half the price of an Eisenmann. :-)

I had an Eisenmann Race on the E61 when I bought it but it was truly terrible. Within 2 days it was removed.

I do however want a little more noise from the exhaust but not too much.
A couple of guys with E60/E61 M5's have mentioned the Hayward & Scott boxes are good and don't result in any drone.

I'm also tempted to ask Paul the Welder to work some magic but I'm concerned that if he does make an error, then there's no going back, unless I find some more stock boxes.

By the way Simon, how do you find the ride with the lower profile tyres please?

I've actually been for a ride in Prettybeast's M5 with the Supersprint exhaust. It was a little too loud for me. For me it had drone but the owner loved it.

The Eisenmann Race is just way too loud

Paul has wrapped 2 of the four pipes on my M5, I'm in Kent if you want to have a ride out. I've got used to it now but cold start is quite loud.

Where abouts in Kent are you? I'm up in Bromley.

Was it louder than what you were expecting?

The lower profile section tyre has not really made a lot of difference to be honest. The rear has dropped from a 35 section to 30 and the fronts from a 40 to a 35.

The only time it does feel a little crashy is when the EDC is on max sport setting but I dont tend to use that setting much anyway. I prefer it in comfort even when in 500 hp+ mode - it drives much more nicely with I think less understeer

Eibach springs are on their way!

Oh! reading that thread, I just assumed no drone as I don't think that was mentioned. That's a pity.

Has anyone had/have the evolve exhaust on their M5?

Their switchable exhaust is probably an ideal solution but:
1) They don't make them any more
2) They had a used one for sale at £2k not including VAT or installation, bit too rich for me...

But if you're interested give them a call to see if they still have the used one.

Herne Bay near Canterbury. I've used the BMW dealer in Ruxley a couple of times , that's about 50 mins away.

Yes louder than I expected, some have had all 4 pipes done on the M5. 2 is plenty.

I might have to pop down for a listen before I get it done.

Is it a similar noise to the other videos on YouTube etc?

I don't think you can tell properly by listening to video clips. Probably best to pop down and have a listen as it could save you money and grief. You can then compare it to your standard exhaust. I drove to Docklands to have a ride out in a M5 with a Supersprint exhaust. I was all set to order the Supersprint but thank god I took the time to go and have a listen first otherwise that would be a lot of money down the toilet.

You planning on coming to Docklands again any time soon? smile
