I'm not sure if this is specific to the M5 and could well be on the F10 range.

I've now had two sets of new lights fitted to the rear of my car - the lights that are attached to the boot lid rather than the rear wings.

The problem is the fixings start crack, getting worse and then the light lenses crack ultimately with water ingress when the car is washed.

Of course, whilst the dealer is being very helpful (and they are!) they've not heard of this before but I'm going through rear lights faster than Jordan does Husbands smile

These lights were fitted 3 weeks ago and are already on the way out.

Edited to add it's clearly a stress related problem however my car had the issue from the factory and twice more since and I assume it's not rocket science to fit these to the boot without over-stressing the fixtures!

I had this problem with our X5 E70 sport with the headlights. It seemed that the front bumper would flex excessively and put undue stress on the lights which would develop hairline cracks over time and eventually need replacing. They were almost 2k for the pair. Bmw picked up the tab both times. After much pressing by me they removed and refitted the front section with new fixings and rubbers. Have added around 80k miles on the car since then without issue.
