Just bought a M4
Discussion
Had a good test drive yesterday. Now just to wait. Black on black, fully loaded, only 100 miles on the clock and £10k off list. Hopefully collecting at the weekend. Just thinking about some personalisation, so sports exhaust and some carbon fibre stuff, splitter and maybe a boot lip. I am sooo excited.
Tick tock tick tock.
Time passes so slowly.

Congratulations on the new purchase - you'll have great fun checking out the options, setting it up and finding out what it can do.
The weather is getting to the point you can have a decent play in all modes - sports plus and gear shift 3 is monumental fun. I'd recommend disconnecting the exhaust valves so you get even more drama - it's a 10 minute mod and easily reversible.
If you want some extra ponies the a plug in ESS box will give you about another 50Bhp and more torques for good measure. There's also a piece of kit which allows you to control the exhaust valves and the noise depending on your mood.
You just need to be a bit careful in the wet and if you have HuDs the MPH goes up like a video game. Enjoy....

Thanks guys. Gameoverman - I have the black kidney surround in my 335d too (it is black on black too - I'm a creature of habit!) and will definitely do that on this one too, along with some others. Not sure I need much more bhp for a little while after burning oil for years. Just looking forward to something more sporty. I guess it is that. Really looking forward now. Still hoping for Saturday but depends on the garage getting it through prep.
Just had some traumatic news. Need to wait another week. Previous owner (who managed to cover all of 100 miles) somehow found the time to kerb one of the rear wheels. While he had great taste in cars, he obviously drove like a complete fanny, and has made me wait another week. I'm not sure I can cope.

You mention considering a sport exhaust. I just bought a 2012 M6 and am going to change the exhaust. Phenomenal car but not enough sound for a performance car at low revs. I'm getting an export version of the AC Schnitzer exhaust fitted by a local BMW dealer for that reason in a couple of weeks.
I know the M4 has just gone twin turbo like the M5/M6 and some people feel it's too quiet as a result. Would be good to hear what you think.

Current plan is the official M stuff, and there is an Akropovic exhaust option which looks and sounds nice. No plans until through the 1,500 service which will be a couple of months. Will let you know, if the next seven days ever passes...!You mention considering a sport exhaust. I just bought a 2012 M6 and am going to change the exhaust. Disconnecting the exhaust valves
How can I do this ?
The link below should help. Make sure the valves are open before disconnecting the valves. Be warned, the cold start is pretty loud. Cut and past the link or do a search on bimmerfest.comHow can I do this ?
