That is a pretty good point in the correct direction. ^

After nearly 11 years ownership and 100k i'd be pretty much saying the same. (Thankfully) The only bit I've read a couple of times but never experienced it is the spinning shells bit. Mine is a very late car and has lived a fairly pampered life so maybe this is a contributing factor? The point that mboon made about the brakes for instance is a good sign that the car would've been well looked after or not as OEM items are not cheep at all.
I've a history file with mine that must be 4 inches think and I'd like to think that what I've got history file wise is par for the course as an indicator to a well looked after car. PGNCerbera, have a look through MY OWNERSHIP BLOG to give you a rough idea on what it's like to own and run one over a lengthy period.
Awesome blog, well done.

Do you have anything else planned for the car?

Aye, new discs and calipers, clean old carriers and sliders and regrease everything. Bled system through, even cleaned the inside of the front wheels.

I'm so alone.

biggrin

Top work on the brakes. I've been meaning to tart mine up for some time and you've given me renewed inspiration.

Cheers smile

It's taught me the hard way not to scrimp on stuff. Three sets of discs it went through before i diagnosed it correctly.

I rebuilt the calipers before with new seals and cleaned all sliders, new discs etc but the caliper pistons were too far gone. Bought new calipers this time. And new discs. Again.

Dammit.

Wow I bet they cost a pretty penny.

I got Zimmerman rear with Pagid fronts. Both are handed too with BOSCH brake pads.

Stops really well and not as expensive as I thought they were going to be but still not cheap either!

eBay item number for a GTII. Jump on it for an investment.
Just had a quick look out of curiosity, what kind of an idiot puts photos on at the wrong angle???

Might be ok on a £1000 snotter but not ok when asking for £16k! ranting

Got genuine m3 floats in the end, although i have a couple of pairs of ate branded floaters now that would easily take a skim if needed, theyre barely worn. Used to use yellowstuffs but gone back to pagids now.

Ive put fifty miles on the new discs and the pedal feels fine but i suspect my rear discs are a bit past it too, so they're probly next.

Cheers ! Anything else? Just to enjoy it mainly. smile

I've just had the car fully polybushed then the next two things on the agenda are to have the wheels refurbished (probably don't need it really but i'd like them done) and tucked away in the loft I've a rare set of 4 pot callipers from an e31 to go on there along with braided hoses.

Gents, I've had a look at an M3 today which I thought was great but my main concern was some rust on the underside in and around the jack points. It doesn't look like they're in terrible condition but if I wanted to get them repaired, what sort of cost are we looking at please?
I've tried searching tinterweb but haven't found any info really.

Any help would be greatly recieved.

Ta very much.

No idea on cost, but get the battery out of the boot as well and search for rust. Also get under the car and look up beyond the diff etc, this is common and no one checks this area. If you have it in the seals you will probably have signs above the diff.

How bad was it? If it's just a bit of surface pickling and there's no perforation that's about right for an older car.
