Eric - Interesting findings on the A45. All those things would put me off, so are you back to looking at the M3 again?
Yep, I am! Still in talks with the seller of the local car. I'm considering a wrap in a fairly boring colour like grey metallic with silver wheels.

If I were you OP, go for an E92 with the updated CIC nav (so September 2008 onwards) and with DCT, you will have a very complete car and the last NA M made.
The particular model I'm looking at is a 2008 with DCT and Business radio.
I quite like the clean look of the dash and suspect that any infotainment system from 2008 will be slow and unusable compared to my smartphone stuck to the dashboard. If I can get some sort of AUX in for a bluetooth adapter, I'm happy.

Worth holding out for the Pro Nav it's not just a nav system it's a full hard drive interface with the car makes the dash IMHO

Should be standard on the M3.

It interests me how cars differ in different markets as pro nav is standard on the uk cars, i do like the clean dash though as my 330 doesnt have nav.

Apparently it's called a business radio "because it's no fun at all."

I hope the M3 works out for you, but should you still be leaning towards the 1 series how about this mix

Well I know I have hijacked the thread but ended up deciding to be a little more boring than either the M135i or the M3, put a deposit down on an F10 today.

It is a petrol though smile

I'm considering an E90 M3.

What's the MPG like, really?
Expect 20mpg, or just slightly less.
I get about 22mpg on my commute, rising to about 26 on a long run. It's one of the last manual ones.

I'd imagine that the M3 can do cruiser duty with the six speed too, block change 1st to 3rd to 5th, you can skip the gears if you aren't in a hurry and ride the torque.

This used to work well in my LS-engined Trans Am anyway.
Certainly, I block change all the time and makes for a very engaging experience even a slow town speeds

That sounds fantastic.

On the nav front, I had a pre-2008 330i E91 with the standard nav and the system was annoyingly old and slow. IMO, these things age the interior more than anything else and I'd happily purchase a car without them.

I have just collected a 2008 335i , it has an AUX so I have plumbed my ipod into it , but no USB , years ago I had a 2008 320D E92 and that did have the USB so 2008 seems to be the introduction year for USB I think ?

The AUX is ok but I have to control all music from the ipod with nothing apart from volume available on the dash steering wheel but its ok smile

I'm not really into modern stuff but that V8 has almost convinced me.
