Hi all

Been looking at an M6 Coupe however after a couple of weeks negotiating someone stepped in and bought it. Yesterday the dealer rang me about an M6 GC they had just got in "AUC".

My question is does the GC retain the "M6" image or is it a bit more subtle. Not seen the GC but my gut feeling is to wait for another coupe. Viewing tomorrow

To me the GC is better proportioned than the Coupe.

If you ever need to take rear seat passengers that are not small kids, get the GC.

The Coupe will have fractionally better performance than the GC, but it's splitting hairs.

The GC is a very large car, it's over 5m long, the Coupe is not exactly small, but adds another 113mm.

If you are considering the GC, you should consider the M5 too.

Thanks

performance is not really an issue as both models will have enough for me smile

size not a problem as I currently drive a 640d coupe

just wondering if the GC is as much of a "beast" in appearance

Imo the GC has more of a presence than the coupe. I seen my GC (not a M6 but 640d m sport) side by side with same model coupe prior to buying and there just looked more to it.
I imagine in M6 guise it'll be the same conclusion

I prefer GC over coupe for looks. Watch the top gear episode where they had the m6 GC, looks stunning.

I think the GC is just as much of a beast in appearance. Front is identical, rear is very similar, that leaves the side view.

I've been searching for a nicely specced used 640d M Sport Coupe for a little time with little luck. Perhaps time to consider a GC now.

Plenty of cars with the standard Dakota leather, which is fine in your 3 series rep special but not befitting of a 6 series surely? Also very few cars around with Adaptive Drive.

The GC is one of the best all round cars I've ever owned. Really can't say much more than that.....

OK, search on hold until I get back onshore in 10 days. In the meantime I have been doing a bit of reading. Is it true that the "M"'s use a fair bit of oil , 1ltr/1000 miles ??

Day before I came off-shore was offered a good deal on a new M5 but didn't have time to pull trigger, however was impressed with test drive so thinking of taking that route to M car ownership

That's because the Nappa leather and Adaptive Drive are both too expensive as options. Also on new car / PCP deals they do not increase residual value. LED lights which I wanted (and are standard now) are the same.

Oil usage is massively affected by the way the engine is run for the first 50-100 miles.

If they are driven too gently then you'll get high oil consumption. If they are driven with maximum allowed revs and plenty of engine braking then you should get low oil consumption.

Mine uses about 0.25L every 10,000 miles.

Aside from the service, over 18000 miles I can't recall adding any oil at all.
