I do wonder when I change at some stage in the future what's a 'normal' car going to feel like frown
Sometimes but I find the TC intrudes constantly up to 80mph.

In damp weather it interferes up to 100+ getmecoat

Indeed, I guess that was my point you only feel the full force above a certain speed and that is over 80mph depending on the conditions.

It can be slightly frustrating and fun in the same measure.

Had the test drive in the F80 M3... Was impressed yes sounds and feels great wasn't to impressed after 70 not as much pull as my E60 M5. The true test will come when I test drive the M5 I think will full fill all my needs!!! The dealership is trying to get one for me next week. Hopefully they will give it to me for a few days...

Do you think it would be a disappointment going from the E60 M5 to the F80 M3 ?

Depends what you like and want... The M3 F80 didn't get my pulse racing like my E60 M5. I think the M5 F10 will be the one for me

Did you buy an F10 M5? If so how do you like it?

The gran coupe is heavier than the m5 also, can only imagine the gap would be bigger with the m5

I spent all day monday at Bedford Autodrome in my M4 with a mate in his E60 M5. on the full 3.8 mile GT circuit it was interesting to say the least.

morning - Bone dry and sunny. i was making ground in the twisty bits then when we approached the 1KM straight he would catch me up by the braking zone at the end. without doubt the E60 is faster at 80+ not hugely but still its faster as you would expect. M4 managed 150 (braking stupidly late and stting my pants) M5 managed 152 but obviously braking sooner. not a scientific test but it is what it is.

then it poured down with rain and it was quite comical. my mate was spinning all over the place and i literally disappeared into the storm leaving him for dead. The E60 is so heavy and powerful that it simply couldnt put the power down without sliding all over the place. he did comment that aquaplaning at 150mph wasnt much fun lol.

i test drove an F10 M5 for 24 hours when i bought the M4 as i too was set on the M5 but what i realised is the M5 in comparison is boring up to 70mph and simply bonkers from 70-150. although it was the most fun ive had in a car... EVER i quickly realised for me that my realistic driving fun zone is 20-100 mph and for that reason i went for the M4 and loaded it with all the Mperformance stuff including exhaust. im happy with my decision but it really depends if you will spend your time blasting down the motorway at high speed or messing about on B-roads. horses for courses.

Im editing the go pro video now, ill post a link to it later once its done if anyone wants to see the carnage we drove through. No video of the dry bit im afraid as i didnt set up the camera until later in the day which is a shame

I said E63 S.
Only E63 other than standard I can find on fastest laps is the Performance pack

Top speed 300 kph (186 mph)
0 - 40 kph 1.6 s
0 - 80 kph 3.2 s
0 - 100 kph 4.2 s
0 - 180 kph 10.5 s
0 - 200 kph 12.7 s
0 - 60 mph 3.8 s
0 - 100 mph 8.5 s
Est. 1/8 mile 8.1 s @ 96.3 mph
1/4 mile 12.0 s

Still slower than an f10 M5

The S apparently covers 1/4 mile in 11.7 seconds according to 0-60 specs.com and the M5 covers it in 11.9 so hardly a clean pair of heals!

The S is quicker than the competition pack over the 1/4 mile that includes all the speed increments you stated. Note the E55 k with only 476bhp with limiter removed would do 205mph so an engine of slightly larger capacity and 200bhp MORE with even longer top gear gearing will do the same if not more

Some slightly dubious numbers being deployed by both sides I think !

To improve on 4.1 secs to 62 you would need the 4matic e63s which is not available in the UK. That said neither have I seen a test of the m5 where 3.7 was recorded.

I've had a biturbo AMG ( CLS SB) and now an M5. Both are monstrously quick and in my view any difference in performance is hair splitting stuff.

As for 205 mph from a 55k I suspect that's in the realms of theory rather than practice. Best I ever saw from the CLS was 197 at Bruntingthorpe and that was mapped at approx 760bhp. Not vmaxed the M5 yet and that's now at similar power.
