E46 SMG Track day car

After a great deal of research l have decided on a this as my choice of car for Sunny weekend/evening fun car but also as important l am looking to do track days and hill climbs, l have been a spectator at these events and it looks real fun without any pressure.
First question -
Have l choosen the correct car/
Anybody else out there on the same wave-length as me,
Any tips.

i very much enjoy my smg on track. However it is also a road car. If it was 100 track/sprint i would go manual.

...but i wouldnt change my current car. If i had the choice from fresh. Trackdays smg is great. hill climbs and auto solo's maybe not so much.

It will be my 2nd car just for fun so as much if not more will be on the roads as the track,
Out of interest which circuits do you attend?
