Have a few track days booked in july. Have options on cars but thinking of taking my wife and son and this got me thinking of taking the M3. Only problem is my previous memories of my other M3's is the brakes are made of cheese. Do you reckon if i change the fluid and pads to say pagid the car could last 500 mile drive to spa, a day at spa, a day at the ring and a day at Zolder and then return home (another 500 miles)?

Does anyone one have any experience tracking these hard? My last E90 lasted 1/2 a day at Dijon in hot weather then gave up.

Cheers
Barry

I think the brakes on the new ones are much better than the E9x model. I'm impressed with them on the road but haven't tracked it yet so am not sure how they will hold out there. I don't think there is a need for the CCB's on the road but maybe they would be useful in your situation.

Spa has big braking zones which will really test the brakes.

Even a Ferrari F430 with steel brakes will cook its brakes after a few laps on somewhere like Mugello or Fiorano or any other heavy braking circuit.

BMW's ceramics obviously last longer but again they are a compromise between road and track.

SGL supply BMW, Mercedes and Porsche. While Brembo supply Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani and Bugatti I think.

I have seen some of the data comparisons and believe me, even BMWs ceramics are not really up to the job of serious track work. Just too much mass to slow down.

Endless pads should help fade resistance and might just do the trick if you're sensible and disciplined about managing heat cycles and backing off when needed. Spa will be a far bigger test than the Ring for brakes. I don't know Zolder though.
