Hi guys does anyone have any experience in living with the frozen colours? I'm looking at frozen white grey or blue. Not sure yet. Does anyone have any advice about these colours?

I'm told that uless you live in a very dry climate (eg Dubai) they're supposedly awful to keep clean.

I had a Frozen Silver M3, the paint is incredibly easy to keep clean and look after, doesn't show light scratches or swirl marks or holograms etc...after 2 years and 40,000 miles it still looked perfect.

I have no idea why the myth persists.

I have seen a mixed bag of comments about the frozen colors. I really like them, very unique an on the M5 will be that more special. I find my white Q7 needs less washes than my sapphire Black e60 M5 and the Q7 is my everyday car. So I was thinking about going white on the new M5 or Frozen White which looks amazing the grey is very nice too so is the cashmere frozen.

Never owned a Frozen colour, but they do look stunning.

All i've heard regarding maintenance is that you need to be careful with the washing procedure. I don't think any more so than you'd probably apply to any pride & joy irrespective of Frozen or not, but you need to be extra careful with the products you use for cleaning etc.

Yes you have to use different products to wash/wax the car, Swissvax opaque range as an example.

Obviously you don't polish it, the make up of a frozen finish is a standard paint colour with a BASF satin lacquer applied instead of a standard clear coat.

Mine was silverstone + satin lacquer.

I've not had any direct experience myself, but I believe that so long as you use a bit of common sense they are not too hard to keep looking good so long as you regularly use the right techniques and products.

The problem comes if the paint is damaged and you require some part of it to be resprayed, getting a good finish and matching both colour and texture requires an exceptional body shop.

I will add that if you're the kind of person who just takes the car to the local car wash every month then frozen isn't for you and therefore you might find washing it my hand a chore.

But if you like to look after your cars then it's no hassle.

Regarding the repainting of panels I had the rear bumper repainted after it was scraped in a car park, the results were good but the body shop took their time and did quite a few trial runs.

Hmm now I'm reconsidering... Yes I'm the type of person to go to the local hand car wash twice a month...

Had Frozen Grey Comp Pack M3 before and female colleague commented that she gets wet at the colour (and texture).

To be honest if circumstances allow I would want my R35 GTR back...

Anyway Frozen paints does need some pampering. There's a kit available from SwissVax which I'd definitely recommend.

Personally I really loved the Comp Pack in Frozen Grey as it had that certain stealth fighter look but I really would prefer the whole look as a wrap instead. Stone chips are a real killer on frozen paints.

Can any bodyshop paint these? Seems like a potential to get totally shafted by a dealer if you have a minor scrape.

Yes but I was told as the colour is very hard to blend in most probably it will be a whole panel paint job even for a minor scratch.

I think I'm just going to go for the safe option now with the sapphire black on black wheels
